Part 10

He's back. Peter was back. And he had taken Paige.

But why? Why did he take her?

Derek recalled Peter's words, "Oh, you know, just a little payback."

Derek paced back and forth, anxious to hear news about Paige.

Where was she? Where was she?

He had the pack searching for her but there was no trace of her. It was as if she had disappeared from the face of the earth.

Ring. Ring.

On reflex, he picked up his phone.

"Hello?"

"Hello Derek." From the other line, he heard Peter's smug voice.

"Where is she?" Derek growled.

"She's safe...for now."

"Why'd you take her? What do you want?" Derek questioned impatiently.

"For now, I need the Helhound."

"Parrish?" Derek crunched his forehead in confusion. "Why?"

"You don't need to know. Send him to the edge of Hunter's Grove. Bound, blindfolded, and alone."

Derek paused before answering: "No."

"Are you sure about that?" Peter asked playfully before facing the phone towards Paige.

"Derek!" She had been listening to the conversation all along and knew it was a trap. "Don't do it."

"Paige!" The werewolf tightened his grip on the phone. "Are you ok?"

Peter swiftly pulled the phone away from Paige and spoke, "Hunter's Grove. 10PM."

In that instance, they all knew he was going to do whatever Peter told him to do.

"Ok." Derek whispered back defeatedly.

"And Derek..."

"What?"

"No games. Don't try anything." Then there was a click and the line went dead.

The Hellhound had been to Hel several more times from his first encounter with Ashley. Since then, they've been trying to find a way for Cara/Ashley to escape.

And the answers lied with Hades. He knew who and what Ashley really was. He also knew why she was there in the first place. They had to find out what he knew. And without him knowing about it.

At first, he was reluctant to answer any of Ashley's questions despite her constant urgings. But bit by bit, he would reveal snippets of who Ashley was. After some time, it was just a matter of putting the pieces together.

They now know that she was part divine and had the gift to traverse dimensions. A dimension-traveler.

Parrish had been working with her on her power. Testing and training the limits and how she can use it to help her escape.

They were so close.

Just a few more attempts, and she would be back.

By the time Hades realized what was happening. It was too late.

He knew something was wrong when Ashley started asking questions, but he had put it away from his mind. Happy that she was once again talking to him.

But tonight, he felt a portal being created. If it wasn't him opening it, there was only one other person who could do it in his realm. Cara.

He rushed through the caverns feeling the pull of power building up towards her.

At last, he burst into her room and found her standing with a translucent silhouette of a man. Beside them, a portal was opened.

He knew at once what she was trying to do.

"Cara." He pleaded with the girl. "Please, please, don't do this."

At the sight of his anguished face, Cara/Ashley wrestled with the emotions within her. He had been good to her and loved her. She could tell he had been sincere towards her. She also knew the loneliness he carried and for that he deserved her pity. But he had also lied to her and entrapped her in his realm.

"Cara, please." Hades inched towards her with his hand stretched out.

She pursed her lips and shook her head.

"Goodbye Hades."

And with that she stepped into the portal and disappeared from his life.

"NOOOO!!!" He shouted as he lunged towards her. But by then, the portal had closed and his hands only managed to grab at thin air.

Falling to his knees, he howled in pain at the loss of his beloved.

At first, she had awoken into nothingness. She had no identity, no memories, no feelings. She was surrounded by nothingness and filled with emptiness. She didn't know how long she was in stasis but when the nothingness faded away, she found herself looking up at a familiar face. It was the man in from her dreams. The one who had gazed longingly at her.
