you make me feel alright

PETER

She screamed a lot. It was not helping that her head was right in front of my left ear so basically when the rotations were done and we were the ones right on top (my calculations were correct) I managed to calm her down with still a little ringing in my ear. She kept on ranting on and on about not wanting to die, that was when it started to get funny and I laughed. Kind of strange. Me feeling comfortable around a girl. That day was really strange.

She sort of slapped me but in a friendly way and calmed down. I told her to ask me questions so that she will preoccupied and you know what she asked me.

Why aren't I wearing my glasses? Well because you broke it when you ran over me mind you! But I did not actually say that cause technically it was kind of both our faults. My parents have wanted me to try contacts on, I told her. This was partly true because my parents are ophthalmologists and they have been offered each free set of clear contacts to use but they were kind of attached to their glasses so they used the opportunity and passed it on to me.

When we finally got down, I remember seeing her knees shaking. Heights were not really her thing.

The best thing that happened after the Ferris Wheel Ride was that everything felt comfortable. Kane was a nice girl after all. You see, I have known her since we were eight.

Wait! Are you sure you will not say my name cause I am about to confess something personal here! You sure? Is this mic on?

*screech*

So yeah I did have a tiny crush on her way back the elem days but it was more of a puppy infatuation even before she knew me. Because back then I was positively sure that in this world, the limit as ME approaches HER was infinity. But that thing was long gone, I cannot believe I even said that in the first place but it still felt nice to feel comfortable with Kane as if we were friends.

The roller coaster ride was alright, at least there was not any screaming. I told her that and she pushed me hard, she forgot that I was attached to her so she sort of pulled herself. Oh the irony! We laughed at that.

KANE

So yeah. Who ever thought that I would have an awesome time with Peter Howard? Nobody!!! But I did. He, at that time I don't know, felt so real. So many of the "boy"friends I hang out with, hide in a facade of coolness, jockness, overachieving-ness but with Pete it seemed like this was the real him and I liked that. NOT HIM! THAT! The idea of him you know being not fake around me. You go PETE!

So it was four o'clock and we still had two hours 'til closing. The place was getting more and more crowded because of the Horror booth. Every Friday was Parent-Alumni Welcome day during Foundation Week, so normally lines would be doubled but apparently handcuffed "couples" seemed to have priority cause this was one of the requirements for freedom. Pete and I walked silently through the crowd to get towards the handcuffed couples priority line. Apparently we were not the only victims that Derek, the jerk and my co officer, caught.

There were three other couples in line the first one just entered the time we got there.

All we could hear were screams.

It took about twenty minutes before we finally got through.

It was dark. The first setting was an alleyway. As we made our way through, floorboards creaked (sound effects) and a dim lampost with a bench stood aghast in a corner while the dim light flickered continuously. We were supposed to approach that when suddenly I noticed someone was sitting on a bench. ITS HEAD TURNED ROBOTICALLY SIDEWAYS TO OUR DIRECTION. IT WAS A FRIGGIN FREAKY CLOWN!

AHHHHHHHHH!

PETER

Okay I got to hand it to the techies the lighting and sound effects were on point. They made me so proud.

And yes, even more screaming. The whole thing was actually not scary it was just surprising. Like oh no there's a clown. And then Egyptian music goes on and there goes a mummy. Kind of predictable. Kane's grip on my hand kept getting harder and harder.

Everytime a creature would appear out of nowhere she would scream and cower at my shoulder.

Then the zombies came.

KANE

The most disgusting part was definitely THE WALKING DEAD part, they got brains splattered all over the floors. HUMAN MINDS PEOPLE! The zombies approached us and I latched on to Pete. I screamed my butt off.

Then he said the most nerdy thing ever.

PETER

STEP ASIDE YOU FOUL BEASTS! MY LADY IS TERRIBLY DISGRACED! IF YOU WERE TO EVER TOUCH HER, I WILL SMITE YOU WITH THIS SWORD!

I know, I know I was just tired of the yelling. I brandished a glowing pen out of my pocket, something I bought at the science tech exhibit, and pointed it towards the zombies.

I did not mean to sound all-medieval and all but it was worth it because then after her screams turned to laughs. Quite a transformation.

I realized back then and even until now that you may calculate your position after a ferris wheel ride or even predict the next thing that will leap your way at a horror house, but the human mind is something that cannot be analyzed, it is and will always be unpredictable.
