The Letter- Chapter Three

 Madelyn’s P.O.V.

This is so not suppose to be happening! What was I doing actually enjoying this? He’s a rich, pretty boy who uses girls, so stop this!

I quickly pulled away and walked out of the ball room, headed for my room. Tomorrow I would wake up and head back home. This whole vacation thing isn’t working out too well anyway.

Blake’s P.O.V.

One moment everything felt perfect, the next, Madelyn was rushing out of the room. What had I done?

I quickly walked out the door she had just left from and ran up the stairs after her. At the top of the stairs, I heard a door slam shut. Rushing over to it, I started beating on it.

“Madelyn! Come on! What did I do? We didn’t even talk! There’s no way I could have offended you! Please open the door so we can talk?” My pleas were met with silence. I ran my hand through my thick, black hair and then down my face. I couldn’t believe the first night had gone so badly.

Mother’s going to kill me; she wants me to marry the Courtney girl. I promised her I would get to know her as much as possible but one look at her today and I knew she was not my type; fake nails, make up that didn’t allow you to see any part of her natural face, practically no clothing, and to top it off she got out of the limo exclaiming, “Blake!!!!! I can’t wait for our wedding it will be perfect!” It had taken every muscle in my body to keep me from rolling my eyes.

My thoughts were interrupted by barking from inside the room and I immediately had a plan. She would have to take him outside sometime and when she did I would be waiting for an explanation. I smirked to myself, thinking I was a genius for coming up with such a brilliant plan!

I took off my black jacket and slid down the door, resting my head on it. This was going to be one long night, I thought with a grin.

Madelyn’s P.O.V.

The knocking finally stopped. I started grabbing my things and placing them back in my suit case, and then reached for the phone dialing Mrs. Jones’ number that was wrote down on a tablet next to the phone. She picked up on the second ring.

“Hello?”

“Oh, yes, Mrs. Jones, this is Elizabeth Tuner.” I stated a little nervous about what to say.

“Hi, dear, do you need something?”

“Well yes ma’am, I was wanting to inform you that I would be leaving in the morning, to go back home.”

She gasped. “Elizabeth, hun, that’s not possible. You see, your contract with us in order to keep the $50,000 was that you have to stay with us until Blake sends you home, and if you are to be chosen, then you must marry him. I have your signature and everything; but if you are willing to return the money then I think we can let you out of your side of the deal.”

I looked down at my lap and then replied so quietly, I didn’t think she would hear, “No, ma’am I’ll stay. Thank you.” And then hung up the phone.

I knew my parents had already spent the money on dad’s doctor bills and house payments, so there was no returning the money. I got up off the bed and saw Tuck sitting by the door, staring at me as if to comfort me.

I walked over to my suit case and grabbed some white Capri’s and a pale yellow shirt. The night was still young so I didn’t see any harm in going outside to play with Tuck, he would enjoy the fresh air and I’m sure I would love the peaceful breeze.

Not bothering with a leash, I walked over to the door and unlocked it.

THUMP!!

I jerked back and looked down to the ground where Tuck was practically licking Blake to death. He sat up and looked at me, confusion clear in his eyes.

“What are you doing?!” I snapped.

“Trying to talk to you, but instead, you lock yourself in your room and ignore me! So I waited until you were going to take him outside.” He jerked his thumb over to where Tuck was sitting wagging his tail.

“There’s nothing to talk about.” I said as I stepped over him headed out the door, but before I knew it, he had his arms around my thighs and pulled me down on top of him, with my back to his chest.

“You’re wrong there Madelyn, we have much to talk about, but you’re being too stubborn to let me.” He whispered into my ear and I could feel his warm breath wrapping around my neck, it felt so good!

I could not give into the rich player that I knew he was so with one swift movement, I elbowed him in the ribs and walked out the door, with Tuck quick on my heels.

“Why didn’t you growl or attack or do anything!?” I mumbled and complained to Tuck on my way down to the front door. He just looked up at me with his big, blue eyes and let his tongue hang out of his mouth. I rolled my eyes as I opened the door for him.
