Sera's POV

I stood in utter bewilderment and fear, my gaze fixated nervously on the guard who had escorted me through the immaculate white corridors. Despite my pristine conscience and unblemished record, a strong sense of confusion gripped me tightly.

Sure, perhaps I had once committed the minor  misdemeanor of over-renting a movie disk, but nothing remotely criminal. It's not like I have any super-human abilities either like the possessors

Yet here I stood, on the threshold of a journey into the unknown. Am I being dramatic? Not really.

Halting before the elevator, the guard gestured for me to join him. We descended, passing floor after floor until we arrived at levels devoid of numerical markings, replaced instead by cryptic designations. P0D, they read, followed by odd symbols denoting our location. The elevator came to a halt at P0D α.

P zero D Alpha? I raked my brain for any clues as to what it meant but I got nothing.

Stepping out, I followed the guard to a nondescript white door. The room within was as sterile and disconcerting as I had anticipated, furnished sparingly with peculiar items.

A solitary grey wingback armchair occupied the center, its presence lending an air of unease to the space. And there, dominating the room, stood a large glass window reminiscent of those found in interrogation rooms.

"Please take a seat in the chair. It's important, as per the instructions from my superior, that you remain there until the light turns green. You're encouraged to make yourself comfortable while awaiting further instructions". He said, startling me.

I could only nod in response as the guard exited the room, leaving me to my thoughts. Settling into the chair, I found it surprisingly comfortable.

Initially, I attempted to pass the time with my phone, but as the hours dragged on, restlessness crept in. I shifted in my seat, growing increasingly impatient for some form of interaction or resolution.

Hour after hour slipped by, and my discomfort climbed my nerves. Resisting the urge to stand, I recalled the words of the guard ringing in my mind so I stopped. The light was still red.

Feeling around the chair, I found out that it was a recliner. I looked around, as if anyone would pop out, though it would freak me out if someone did but I reclined the chair and also saw that it had some snacks hidden in the compartment on the left.

I drank down the cola since I was famished, and ate 3 whole bars of chocolate. I didn't notice when, but I started getting sleepy and by the time that I woke up, I felt my bladder full.

Maybe I shouldn't have drank soda and opted for the water instead? Too late for regrets I suppose.

Desperate for any sign of activity, I peered hopefully out of the window, relieved to find the light had turned green.

"Um, I kind of need to use the toilet. I'm going down now!" I voiced out to the air.

Emerging from the chair proved a bit challenging as my legs momentarily felt like jelly, but I soon regained my composure. I thought it was odd, I couldn't recall ever experiencing such weakness simply just from laying in a reclined chair?

Approaching the door, I struggled initially to pry it open, but eventually succeeded. What awaited me beyond was utterly unexpected.

A bustling street greeted my eyes, alive with the chatter of pedestrians and the hum of traffic. The sky stretched above, a vibrant blue reminiscent of the picturesque scenes I'd only seen in photographs. And the air—clean and invigorating—filled my lungs with its refreshing scent. I never knew that the air would be so sweet.. But wait..that would mean-

..I'm above ground.

I immediately closed the door and stared at the room. It was impossible. No, I was probably hallucinating. I've already seen what happened above ground.

Dust, smoke, gunpowder, bones, and Death.

I'm probably just half asleep.

I opened the door once more, yet the surreal sight of Omnipolis, the capital, stood before me in all its former grandeur. What in the world was happening??

Closing the door once again, my mind raced with confusion. I searched the room frantically, hoping to uncover any clue that might shed light on  whatever situation I was in.

My attention was drawn to a small side table, where a hidden button caught my eye. Pressing it, a suitcase emerged. Inside lay only a pair of glasses and a watch, leaving me baffled and grasping for any sort of understanding.

There was a card beside it that said, Wear me.

Usually, I wouldn't since this feels like something straight out of a horror movie but since I was desperate, I wore them.

Instant regret flooded over me as I donned both items. The moment the glasses settled on my face, a searing pain shot through my eyes. In an instant, darkness engulfed my vision, leaving me blind and writhing in agony.

The pain was unlike anything I had ever experienced; my head throbbed with excruciating intensity, while my wrist blazed with searing heat. Trapped in a whirlwind of torment, I struggled to determine which pain should I prioritize.

I removed the glasses and rubbed my eyes. When I opened them, I saw the screens.
