Tying Up Loose Ends

Hi! I'm creating this on mobile, so apologies for the horrible formatting. It's been years since the last update, and seems like a lifetime. The resurgence of the new show has sparked an old flame. Since creating my Wattpad account (and this series) I have graduated high school and college, have a professional office job, own my own apartment, and still have a love for the show that inspired this shabbily written, plot-holed fanfiction. For all of its errors, however, the love from you all has brought me back from a hiatus death to update you all one last time. You all deserve to know how this story ends, and as busy as my life is now, there is little chance I'll ever have time to edit and update a proper book two for you all. So! Here it is, a quick explanation of how I planned to write the trilogy:

At the end of the first book, our beloved Kaori dies in front of us. Book two begins with Skye trading places with her, one girl now in the 'real' world, and one in the world of Avatar. At the time of their switch, they were both near death, and I planned on using the logic of the spirit world and Kaori's close ties with it to justify this. The second book was meant to be a nod to the 'genre' of self-insert fanfiction. Real meets imagined. A person's close ties with something they love can transcend even that rift.

Book two would follow the girl's living in the other's footsteps, loving, learning, and growing. And the ATLA storyline as well. I would have tied it up by having Skye return to her own world, Kaori reuniting with her family and friends in her own universe, and the girls being able to meet with each other for a brief period during the switch. Their spirits are similar, and they have a close, friendly connection to where they are able to understand each other like no one else does. Kaori is no longer able to bend all the elements, she is no longer the 'Avatar' alongside Aang, but a sister and fellow airbender. As they are pulled back into their own universes, they leave a token of their friendship with each other, and a mark on each other's spirits from the cross as well. Even apart, they are still connected. Skye returns to life as normal, but having learned valuable lessons from those she met. She survives her plane crash and reunites with her family.

Book three would take the gang on a journey into the fire nation, facing insurmountable odds. Following the story as usual. but Kaori's presence would include hilarious banter, terrible quips, and a beautiful, easy love story. They save the world and go down in history. Kaori eventually marries and has children of her own, and never loses her ability to find youthful optimism in every situation. Her connection to the spirit world remains intensely strong and she is able to guide Aang in his decision to stay true to his culture and not take the life of Ozai. Even after, she remains a close aide and confidant to her friends. A happy ending for all, as bittersweet as it is that it had to end.

Thank you all for loving my books like I loved such an amazing show. It shaped my formative years and this outlet allowed me to channel a lot of my feelings towards something productive and creative. It got me through some tough times and I can only hope it did the same for you. We loved it together. Thank you for following Sky and Kaori on their journey.

(and because I HAD to) Thank you to all those fluffy muffins out there ;) <3

Signing off for the last time. Thank you, truly,
