Breath comes fast,
Legs shake,
Hands grip tight,
Fear approaches...
Take another step.

Higher to climb,
Wind whips,
Do not slip,
Fear waits...
Take another step.

Farther to fall,
Sun sets,
Heart pounds hard,
Fear retreats...
Take another step.

The top is here,
Heat below,
Beauty high above,
Fear disappears...
Take another step.

Time to descend,
Easier still,
Than the climb,
Safe upon the ground...
Take another step.
