It had been a chaotic month for Caitlin and Aurora, both of them not being able to see each other due to their blooming careers. To make up for lost time, they decided to go to the lake together.
Caitlin slid behind the wheel, pulling out her phone to put on some music for the ride. The air hummed with anticipation as they sat in the car. Aurora watched Caitlin with a soft smile, her heart swelling with affection as she observed the furrow of concentration on Caitlin's brow.
"Find anything good?" she asked, her voice laced with curiosity. Caitlin grinned, settling on Enchanted by Taylor Swift
"How about this?" she suggested, the melody filling the car with its rhythm. Aurora's face lit up at the sound, her foot tapping along to the beat as she nodded in approval. "Perfect," she declared, her laughter mingling with the music as drove down the highway.
As they continued driving, Caitlin reached over to adjust the volume, her hand brushing against Aurora's thigh in the process. Aurora's breath caught in her throat at the unexpected touch, a jolt of electricity shooting through her veins. Caitlin glanced over at her, a small smile on her lips as she left her hand resting on Aurora's thigh.
"Is this okay?" she asked, her voice soft.
Aurora felt her cheeks flush at the girls touch, her heart racing with excitement. "More than okay," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper. Their fingers intertwined, a grin plastered on their faces as they looked at the road ahead, not daring to make eye contact.
When they arrived each step, the chatter between them grew more excited excitement. Caitlin's laughter echoed through the trees.
"Can you believe we're finally here?" Aurora exclaimed, her eyes sparkling as they emerged from the forest, immediately being faced with the lake.
"It's even more beautiful than I imagined," Caitlin breathed, her gaze sweeping over the shimmering water.
Aurora couldn't help but steal glances at Caitlin, her heart swelling with affection at the sight of her radiant smile.
"Not as beautiful as you," she said sarcastically, a playful grin tugging at her lips.
Caitlin's cheeks flushed pink, a shy smile playing at the corners of her mouth. "Charmer" she teased, nudging Aurora gently with her elbow.
They set up their spot on the sandy shore, spreading out a blanket beneath the shade of a sprawling oak tree. With the gentle lapping of the water, they enjoyed a picnic, sharing sandwiches and stories, their laughter mingling with the rustle of leaves in the breeze. As the afternoon wore on, they went swimming. Side by side, they floated on their backs, gazing up at the clear blue sky above, content in each other's company.
As Caitlin splashed playfully in the water, her laughter echoing across the lake, Aurora stood on the edge of the towering dock, her heart pounding in her chest. Aurora glanced down at Caitlin, her cheeks flushed with a mixture of nerves and excitement.
"I don't know, Caitlin," she called out, her voice trembling with laughter. "It's so high!"
Caitlin grinned up at her, a grin on her lips "Come on Baby!" she urged, her voice filled with playful encouragement.
"You'll love it, I promise!"
Aurora shook her head, her laughter ringing out in the the warm afternoon air. "I can't do it!" she protested, her heart racing with adrenaline.
But Caitlin wasn't deterred. With a mischievous twinkle in her eye, she paddled closer to the dock, her voice softening. "Yes, you can," she insisted, her smile as bright as the sun. "Come on get in the water baby"
