Chapter 1: Fresh Start

Ethan's POV

It's been a month ever since Marcus and I broke up, and my summer felt like shit. You ever make a bunch of plans for summer and get all happy while planning, just for something to happen last minute? That's what happened to me. I planned my entire summer with Marcus, but just to find out he's been cheating on me for a fucking year.

I ended up swearing to never love again. Not a single boyfriend. They're all going to turn out just like Marcus. Cheating, Lying, Manipulative assholes.

Anyways, back to now. I'm starting a new school for my senior year, because if I had stayed at Mountvill, Marcus would make my life a literal nightmare. If you don't believe me, he once humiliated one of his best friends for disagreeing with him on some plans.

It's currently 6:00 a.m. which gives me an hour to get ready, 30 minutes to eat, 30 minute drive to school, and 15 minutes to sit in my car in the parking lot.

I check my phone to see if anybody texted me, which only one person has.

Marcus Fucking Long.

Does he want me back? Did he realize he fucked up? What if he just wants to tell me to go fuck myself and he hates me now? Surely the latter, I mean... He cheated on me.

Without seeing what he texted about, I sit my phone back down and head into my bathroom for my routine. You guys should totally get a morning and night routine, you'll feel SO much better!

I start the shower, making sure it's on cold. Hot showers aren't good for your hair, how else would I get these gorgeous curls?? I take off my pajamas and step into the shower, letting out a small yelp since I made it a bit too cold.

I step out of the shower and dry off. As soon as that's done I start my skincare routine. I have a schedule, and I can't let it go to waste already. When my skincare is done, I leave the bathroom and go to my closet. It's too hot to where a sweater, but not warm enough to expose most of my legs.

I go with black shorts, and a white T-Shirt. Basic I know. I slip on Nike Air's and look in the mirror to make sure I don't look like a train wreck.

I clean up my room, and check my phone again. I still don't look at whatever Marcus wanted to say, I don't need him.

I hate Marcus Long.

I slide my phone into my pocket and walk out of my room to find Momma cooking, which brought a smile to my face. It might just be mothers, but good lord does she know how to cook.

"Good morning Momma." I say as I give her a side hug, a full hug wasn't possible at the moment due to her cooking.

"Good morning Ethan, are you ready for today?" She smiles and moves the sausages into a plate, and then getting biscuits out of the oven.

"It's nothing I can't handle, as long as I don't meet another Marcus." I laughed, which mother returned, as I grabbed the biscuits, jelly from the fridge, and sat down at the island.

"I'm working a late shift tonight, so I wont be back in time for dinner." Mom was already in her scrubs with her purse in hand. She was a nurse, often picking up shifts to provide for the both of us.

"I'll order a pizza or something, love you Momma" I get up to give her a full hug, and she walks out of the house afterwards.

I check the time again, and it's now 7:30 a.m. Meaning it's time for me to finally head to school. I had to GPS because I had no clue where WestBrook High was.

Before I drive off, I decide it might be time for me to finally answer Marcus. I pull out my phone and open his messages.

Marcus Long
I want you back
I fucked up and I shouldn't have cheated.
Please Ethan?
Baby?
Pretty boy?

Read 7:32 a.m.

Is he fucking crazy?! He cheated on me and now he wants me back after a month?! But then again, he called me pretty boy...

No.

I swore to never fall for a man again, and that's a promise I'll keep.
