(Unedited)Slow breaths, suffocating air, and rustling of the leaves. That's what I wake up to. Looking around, for a second I recall last night, and a small fear erupts in me that we slept the night away on the lake.
My eyes, although blurry, search desperately around and instead of the calm water and green nature, I'm met with a pouting Sasuke, fast asleep, arm draped over my figure inside the sleeping bag. We're back in the tent, phew. He probably carried me over.
My heart sweals, and my hand instinctively reaches to his soft, squishy cheek to caress it lovingly in a sign of appreciation, even if he is not awake to acknowledge it.
And then, I remember.
I look down at my left hand, slowly playing with my fingers as I stare at the beautiful silver ring adorned with an almond-shaped diamond. Not too big, but not too small. Just perfect. I raise my hand, looking up at the ring like it's my most prized possession. Because it is, in a sentimental way. This is the proof of our relationship going forward, evolving.
I bite my lower lip, trying to keep my squeals in, but it's so hard when all of this makes me feel inside like a giddy teenager.
It's finally happening, Sasuke asked me to marry him. It's something that I used to nag him so much about, but at one point gave up on doing so, realizing that things don't work like that. That rushing things can sometimes maybe destroy them, before they really begin.
Patience.
That's one of the most important things Sasuke taught me besides true love. And I think as long as I live, he'll continue teaching me more and more lessons.
I flinch a little when a sudden hand wraps around mine, lowering it, and then I calm my startled heart. Sasuke's lips come in contact with my knuckles, pressing a kiss, then to the ring on my finger, murmuring in his deep, morning voice, "Good morning."
A sudden heat accumulates to my cheeks and I bury my head in his chest, no way am I letting him see me flustered. He'll think I'm still a kid. Well, it is his fault for making me feel like this though!
"Morning." I respond, not wanting to be rude first thing in the morning and ignore him
"This is our last day here. What do you want to do? Since I took all of yesterday..." he chuckles a bit, now playing with the ends of my messy hair
"Don't know. Something fun? I'm happy to just spend time with you." I say
His chest vibrates from laughter and I finally look up at him to see him already looking down at me "You're just that sweet, aren't you? Whatever happened to both of us, hm? It seems like it was last week we were screaming at eachother's faces."
"People grow, you know."
He nods, "Yeah, but this is more than that."
"How so?"
He inches his face closer down to mine, nudging our noses together, as he says in an almost a whisper "Think it's love."
His lips come to devour mine, in such a passionate way that if you didn't know us, you'd think he was finally kissing me after being deprived of my mouth for eons. And I think that's cute. I think Sasuke Uchiha is fucking cute.
Body parts now tangled as the kiss deepens, I hum in his mouth. Not a moan, not sexually. It wasn't like that, it didn't feel like that on his part either. More like a satisfaction to be so close to the one you love, to cherish moments like this. It's a happy moment, that will play in my mind a thousand times. It's, finally, an almost endgame feeling.
