The next day dawned with a soft golden hue filtering through the curtains, painting the room in a warm, ethereal glow. The gentle caress of morning light stirred me from my slumber, coaxing me back to consciousness with its gentle touch. Reluctantly, I allowed myself to be pulled from the embrace of sleep, stretching out my limbs and blinking away the remnants of dreams.

Shaking off the last vestiges of sleep, a sense of unease settled over me like a heavy blanket. The memory of the alpha's cold gaze from the night before lingered in my mind, casting a shadow over the new day.

Before I could dwell too much on it, a soft knock echoed through the room, followed by the creak of the door opening. I turned to see Lila, the omega assigned to me, standing in the doorway with a nervous smile playing on her lips.

"Good morning, Eleana," she greeted me cheerfully, her voice a soothing melody in the quiet room.

I returned her smile, feeling a sense of comfort wash over me at her presence. "Oh, hello, Lila," I replied gently, my tone soft and comforting. "Good morning to you too."

Pushing myself upright, I allowed the covers to slip from my shoulders, revealing the simple shift dress I wore for sleeping. Lila stepped further into the room, her eyes darting around nervously as if searching for something.

"I hope you slept well," she said, her voice tinged with concern.

I nodded, offering her a reassuring smile. "Yes, thank you. And you?"

Lila shrugged, her smile faltering slightly. "Not as well as I would have liked, but that's to be expected, I suppose."

I frowned, noting the weariness in her eyes. "Is everything alright?"

She hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Yes, just... some things on my mind, that's all."

I reached out a hand, placing it gently on her arm. "If you ever need to talk, I'm here for you, Lila. You don't have to carry your burdens alone."

I couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss, that there was more to her troubles than she was letting on.
Lost in my thoughts, I barely noticed when Lila's voice broke through my reverie. "You don't have to concern yourself with my troubles, Eleana," Lila pleaded softly, her eyes downcast.
"Are you sure," I asked, my concern evident in my voice.
"Lila, yo-"
"Please, Eleana," she interrupted gently, her voice laced with a mixture of gratitude and reluctance. Her eyes met mine, "I appreciate your concern, but there's nothing you can do. It's best if we focus on our tasks for today," her eyes pleading with me.

I hesitated, torn between my desire to help her and my reluctance to pry into her personal affairs. Not that I could do much, in my situation. But that didn't stop me from wanting to help, however I can. "I didn't want to make thighs any harder for her, so I decided to respect her wishes and not push too hard.
I hope Lila feels comfortable enough to confide in me. Although we haven't known each other for long, I hope she feels comfortable to see me as a friend. It would be nice to have someone to talk to.
With a nod, "Of course, Lila," I replied, forcing a reassuring smile. "I won't push. I'm here if you ever need to talk."

Lila's shoulders visibly relaxed at my response, and she returned my smile gratefully. Her smile returned, a bit more genuine this time, albeit a little sad, "Thank you, Eleana. I appreciate it."

With that, she shifted the conversation, steering it towards lighter topics. "Anyway, I came to tell you about your task for today."

"What is it?" I asked, a hint of dismay creeping into my voice.

Lila's expression grew serious once more as she explained, "The alpha has requested that you accompany me to gather supplies from the neighboring village. He believes it will be good for you to familiarize yourself with the surrounding area."
