The sun was out, and the day was bright. Through the window of my room, I saw people jogging, cycling, and laughing in the Park. The birds were chirping and there wasn't a single cloud in the sky.

But I was miserable.

I just ended my call with my brother Kairav, letting him know that I canceled my trip back home.

My breathing deepens and my steps turn forceful as memories filter back in. I was still struggling with my memories, however I had to make decisions. Quickly. I let Kairav know that I needed to spend another year in college. He was disappointed but he supported and respected my decision. My Plan is to try to avoid all the dramas that will or can happen this year ... All the confusion, the pain and the drama before my marriage with Abhimanyu.

Abhimanyu ...

I know i am taking a risk playing with destiny and retarding our meeting, but this is for the best. I will try my best and plan everything so our relationship will be built without drama and snakes around us.

I have plans for Arohi too. I will not make the same mistakes this time. I know what she is capable of. Just thinking about it makes me want to explode. It makes me want to scratch and bite and scream.

But I won't.

That's not me. I don't explode. I'm a peacekeeper. I'm sweet and quiet. I keep my head down and don't make any ripples.

At least that's what people expect of me.

6 months later

Nanavati Hospital – my workplace for the last 6 months – is a very small private facility located in the Middle of Nowhere, around Mumbai.

I totally lied to my family about college. Of course the extra year was not needed, but I didn't want Arohi to know that I wanted to work in a hospital as a music therapist. She is capable of creating drama just because of this little detail ... Especially after what happened to her at the Birla Hospital. Kairav kept me updated about everything that was happening in Udaipur. Even without me in the picture Arohi tried everything to make Abhimanyu notice her after joining the Birla Hospital. She succeeded because he noticed her and fired her for unprofessionalism. I laughed so hard after my call ended with Kairav that day. Arohi was so ashamed that she wanted to leave Udaipur and even India as soon as possible. So it's been two months since she left for the USA. What a relief, the far away she is, the better.

My Abhi never disappoints ! I was sure that he would deal with her accordingly. I was smiling at myself like a crazy woman, thank god i am alone in my office.

Thinking about my younger self, boys never interest me. I was too nerdy for that and my studies always came above any boy drama. And now I am happy knowing that Abhimanyu is the man of my life. My destiny.

Someone knocked at my door.

" Yes ?"

My new friend Dev entered my office.

" Hi pretty lady ! Are you ready ?"

" Oh gosh Dev sorry i almost forgot but don't worry i finished all my work, let's go !"

Dev smiled at me knowing how easily I can be lost in thoughts.

Dev Dixit is around Abhimanyu's age, he is also a doctor, a surgeon to be precise. His family is putting pressure on him to get married, but so far he has resisted. He's the worst bachelor ever. Really. In the five months that I've known Dev, he's blown a total of fourteen dates. Maybe that doesn't sound too terrible, but considering his busy schedule, it's way too many !

And now that we are friends he even uses me sometimes to scare away the girls that his mom forces him to meet. So here I am in a fancy restaurant, two tables away from dev and his date, waiting for his signal. If he isn't able to scare her away himself, he then lets me know that I am needed by using a sign that we agreed on.

I shake my head as I watch him get increasingly impatient with his date. Sure, this is the fourth time she's fixed her lip gloss at the table, and sure, she kind of has a habit of making all of her statements sound like questions, but she's definitely a ten. They're always tens. It's no surprise, since Dev himself is probably a twelve, and that's even when he has a bad attitude. He is way too good looking for his own good ( not as good looking as Abhimanyu of course) . It doesn't help his plan to make them run away from him.

Poor guy.

I think he warmed up to me because I must be the only woman at the hospital and even in this city that didn't hit on him. He was ice cold towards everyone, but one case brought us together and our friendship developed then.

"So do you wanna get out of here?" the beautiful woman suddenly asks.

She's leaning over, her hand lightly touching the sleeve of his suit jacket. He doesn't even look up from the plate of food that he's eating as he answers her.

"No."

The woman sits back, anger and hurt flashing across her features, but she quickly covers it up with a cool smile. "Okay...How about we go to the cinema ? "

"No," He says again, finally lifting his head to look at her.

The woman smooths down her glossy brown hair and crosses her legs under the table. Her dress hugs her curves to perfection.

"If you didn't want to spend time with me, why did you ask me out?" she demands.

Oooh. I perk up at the steel in her voice. This is like watching a show. I need my popcorn !

"I took you out as a favor," he tells her with a wave of his hand. "Your dad works for my family. He said you've been trying to move on from just being an Instagram model to walking for fashion week. He knew if you were seen with me that it would help boost your career. So I agreed because now he'll have no choice but to owe me one. I'll be cashing in that favor quite soon, actually."

Her teeth clench. "You're a son of a bitch, Dev Dixit. You know that ? "

Oh gosh, maybe I will not be needed this time. He always does this, he purposely runs his dates into the ground until he is sure that the woman will never ever want to see him again.

And that woman did exactly that, she ran to the exit without looking back. He seems relieved about that every single time.

Like right now. His date has barely made it to the exit of the restaurant, and already he's grinning at the waitress and ordering dessert.

I sat down across from him in the chair the woman just vacated. I give him my stern stare.

" How long will you keep doing this ?" I asked.

" As long as it takes for my mom to get tired and let me be" he replied.

I sighed.

We shared the dessert and he even fed me. The way he takes care of me reminds me of Kairav.

He can be really sweet when he decides to be !

To be continued ...

How will Abhimanyu and Akshara meet ? How will Abhi react to Akshu having a close male friend aka Dev ? Stay tuned for more ;)
