I parked the car where I always did last year. A few teachers including a friend teacher if mine Brandon Macha played a little prank on me last year. Actually I wouldn't call it a prank it's more like a poor excuse of a reserved parking spot. They had gotten chalk from the conference room black board and wrote " this poor excuse is reserved for: Robbie McDowell". It was funny at first but got old and washed away in the next weeks rain storm.
I jumped out of my truck and looked at where the joke once laid to see another little chalk note.
"Hello and welcome back Robbie from an anonymous teacher (Macha)" if read.
I chuckled as I walked to the front door and into the first long day of another long year. I hurried into the office trying not to run into Ross Nagienfind. He was one of two known gay like teachers in the school. There is one teacher that actually knows and admits he is gay and really no one cares that and the students love him. As for Ross I really don't know. He acts strange at time but can make good jokes and be normal at other times. No one really gets him and I don't even know how he's married. It's mean but it's true.
Thank god he wasn't so I continued into the office and said my good mornings to the principle David Boggs and other office staff. I collected the papers in the office and my new grading book and headed to my room. I walked down the hall only to see Ross. I looked at him as he had his back turned talking to the math teacher across the way Katie Mittimeir.
I quietly and carefully snuck over slyly to my room without being seen by the old creeper. I searched through my keys and pulled out the classroom keys slipped it into the lock turned in unlocking the door then taking the keys out. I quietly opened the door and walked in the room only to once again look at the disaster which was my desk. Lets just say I have no sense of organization and I never do anything on time.
I had planned to come here two days after the end of school and clean off my desk and now look at it. It's the same disaster just one the first day of school when I said I was going to clean it to days after summer break. That's a poor example of both keeping my own promise to myself and a good example of procrastination. It really doesn't matter how much I try to fix it I always fuck it up!
I sat down at my desk and sighed then began to pick up the shit I had planned to pick up a while ago as I said. I separated the important keep papers from the major junk like old graded homework and worksheets along with my candy rappers and empty bags of dried banana chips.
Finally after about forty five minutes of organizing it was time the kids started coming to class from the gym in the morning to learn about their classes and teachers. I had another teacher that works with me from the Philippines and her name was Madeleine Kiamco. In other words during school it's Ms.Kiamco for her and Mr.McDowell for me.
She walked into the room in a hurry and came over to me.
"Oh Mr.McDowell you didn't answer your phone or your Facebook the week before school and now I don't know what the plan is!" She complained.
I sighed and explained
"I got a new iPhone and my Internet connection has been down for some reason so I couldn't get a hold of you and tell you that or tell you my new number!".
She grumbled and stormed off to the other side of the room as I watched and laughed.
"What's so funny" she asked in a pissed of manner.
"We'll it's just really funny how when your mad you storm off with a strands pouty walk that looks like your trying to kill random ant hills in your back yard." I said.
She again pouted in her little strange way but let the grudge go as kids started to walk in for their first day.
"Just sit anywhere" I said to the few students in the room.
They walked around found a friend and sat next to each other and started talking. Soon the bell rang and the class was filled with the student of my first block class.
"Ok my name is Mr.McDowell" I said as Kiamco jumped in and said " And I'm your other teacher Ms.Kiamco!".
"This is our classroom in which we have some rules" said Kiamco.
I jumped in as the students sighed and said " But we are going to get to know each other first!".
They got exited and started chating then silenced.
"We're going to go around to each desk and your going to answer the personal question on the board and we will answer to then you can ask us questions!" I added.
We then wet around as they answered their questions like do you got any pets, when is your birthday, where were you born and so on.
Finally it got to asking us personal questions and that was interesting since most of them were asked to me.
"Are you married?" Asked one student in the right hand corner of the room.
"No but I have a long distance girlfriend in Ohio." I said.
"How old are you?" Asked another student.
"I am 33 but will be 34 in September!" I answered.
Soon class was over and the second block came in and it was the same shit all over again. The questions and all. This was going to be a pain in the ass.
