Paper Mario: The Spell of Ultimate Power

So I've recently read Paper Mario Temple of The Sun (This was in July/August of last year when I read it), and got inspired to make my own paper mario story too... It will include a lot of elements similar to all the past Canon games, including Origami King, but will maintain a chapter structure like the first 3 and Temple of The Sun, as well as interludes. It will have the battle system of the first two, a fleshed out story (though not quite as deep) like Super, and references to at least Color Splash and Origami King as well (mostly that is it happens directly after Origami King) 

So here are some things to know before you start:

I started writing this a year ago, a bit before the TTYD remake was announced but decided to start putting up the finished chapters up as I feel like this is my strongest project right now. Plus it keeps me hyped for the remake coming out, and chapters may be delayed due to spending time playing that.

This is a current work in progress. I'll be putting out all the current chapters in the next few days, and new chapters will come as they are finished, which will vary as I have a busy summer.

The cover is temporary, I'm planning out a design that I'll draw to replace it eventually.

Mario is not the silent protagonist he usually is. He has dialogue, and is doing his best to stay functional while masking his depression

Luigi is the same as ever,  after all, the Paper Mario series Luigi is perfect as he already is.

Peach is back in on the action this time having a break in the last three games, and retains her no-nonsense badass personality she had in Super Paper Mario.

Bowser is portrayed similarly to how he is in Origami King, though he has a more mellowed out personality and is a big softie... like how he normally is with his minions, but now that side has extended to the Mario Bros. and the Princess. Though he still acknowledges his evil deeds and is still as boastful and hungry for battle as always.

Kammy Koopa will be featured again here, serving her first heroic role. I admit I LOVEEED Bowser and Kammy's interactions in TTYD and here she is very crucial to the story, being best friends with Merlee and the sister of the villain Kathy. She will function like the goomba partners as well, being able to tattle in battle, as all the partners are complete OCs and some even being species of past games we haven't seen in a while.

Partners will properly return, with new original characters appearing, some of different species that have never been partners before :) (I'll draw character designs at some point)

Kathy Koopa is the main antagonist of this bizarre adventure. She is basically what Kammy would be if she held no care for anyone or position under anything. Her greed drives her to achieve anything, including ultimate power to rule the world with an iron fist. She's brought back some of Mario's deadliest foes from the afterlife to form a coven, and once again let's say that they all occured in the same universe to avoid confusion.

Chapter-Interludes are back! These were some of my favorite parts of the original 3 and I HAD to include these of course. They will be split into 4 main parts. We  will first focus on Kathy and her coven. After that, it will focus on their captives snooping about the lair to find answers to the plans. Afterwards it will feature a comedic section with Daisy, Bowser Jr., and Kamek who have gone looking for everyone, feeling left out not having been invited on the adventure. And finally I present something special, an unravelling backstory that involves the childhood days of Kammy, Merlee, and Kathy. It's very much putting the interludes of the first three in a blender... getting witty conversations between our villains, stealth missions of our captives like the first, comedic sections from TTYD, and nods to the overarching story like SPM.

There will be a lot of references. Most stem from media I have consumed.... Most of the humor relies on events that happened in the previous games that the heroes look back on, and chastize each other over their past actions that contradict their current ones. The artifacts that serve as spell ingredients are big examples of references... well... most of them anyway.

And yeah, final warning to back out:

THERE IS A LOT OF DIALOGUE! And by a LOT I MEAN A LOT! I do my best to try and mix in descriptions of what they are doing and their surroundings, but dialogue is how I tell stories. I'll do my best to describe battles, but the character interactions are mostly where I put the writing.
