How long is too long? Word count wise ya nasties 🤣

Some of, ok a good bit of my one shots that I've written so far (but haven't published yet due to incompletion [yes, I have started multiple one shots... I'm an overachiever... not really, just have a lot of ideas pop into my head at random times and have to get it out, otherwise, it'll either drive me nuts or I'll forget]) are almost 10K words.

I hope ⬆️ makes sense, if not, I tried. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Some people think that 1.5-2.5k is long, (I disagree, and all of my one shots are [and will be] longer than 2K words.

So, what do you consider as 'too long'... because I tend to write, well type, until I feel the one shot is finished, simply because, I hate when I read a one shot story and get into it only for it to not be finished and carry over, then a while later have the second part (or third) be published, then having to go back and re-read to remember the plot. That, plus I'm not a big fan of cliffhangers especially when I'm invested in a one shot.

2.5k??

4-5k?

7k?

10k??

If I have to, I'll (reluctantly) break up the longer ones, but I'll post them at the same time.

I would also like to know what you guys consider too short.

Please let me know.

Also, please let me know what you think of the smutty one shot(s), "The Dare", was my first time writing smut.
