My Southern Life (A Duck Dynasty Fanfic)

Chapter One

A/N I'm going to be using real events that are happening in my life. I think it will just be easier than coming up with events that I have no clue about how they work/happen.

{Katelyn's POV}

"Katelyn!"

"What?"

"Hurry up! Get in the shower it's time for school!"

"Yeah. I will when you shut my light off again."

"Katelyn. I'm not joking."

"Okay okay! I'm up! Happy?"

"Yes I am! Now get in the shower!"

"Alright!"

I turned on the shower and waited for it to get to the perfect temperature. That thing that happened with my mom only happens on Mondays. Yeah. Don't you just love Mondays?

I'm actually quite the morning person being I have to feed my horses and cattle every morning... Crap! Out of the shower we go!

I towel dried my hair and went to my closet to see what I was going to wear today. It was actually a pretty chilly day for Louisiana. I picked out a pair of Miss Me jeans and a Cabela's t-shirt. I'd put my boots on later when I left.

While I waited for my hair to dry I made sure I had clothes for cheer after school. I just have golf and cheer in the spring and you don't need extra clothes for golf.

I went to the bathroom and straightened my hair and put foundation and some mascara on. I didn't like to wear much because I hate when girls cake it on. After I brushed my teeth I went to grab my cheer bag and went downstairs. On the way down I banged on Rivers door to make sure he was awake.

I grabbed a piece of toast and headed out side to the barn.

"How's it goin' Jack?" I said to Alex's horse.

I take care of Alex's horse since he's at college. It's easy because he only has one. I have three and River has two. River has to take care of his own. Jack has been sick so I gave him some meds in his oats. My horses names are Skeeta, Ace, and Dusty. River's are Key and Quest.

I fed and brushed mine. I took Skeeta to the cattle barn. After I put some food in there I checked for any calves. We have a few that are ready to give birth so, you never know. After that I rode back to the horse barn. I put Skeeta in the barn and went back to the house. I grabbed my bag and headed to my truck.

Once I threw my bag in the back I plug in my phone and blasted 'Buzzkill' by Luke Bryan through the speakers.

I pulled in to the parking lot and went straight to my locker to grab my books. I heard the bell ring so I headed to Spanish. My favorite class of the day! Note that sarcasm.

I sat in a desk and started copying the notes off the board. Someone sat behind me and started tapping their feet on the back of my chair. Nothing more annoying than that. And clicking your pens.

I turned around and said,"Will yo- hey John Luke!"

"Hey Katelyn! Is something wrong?"

I said,"Oh nevermind!" and turned around feeling the blood rise to my cheeks making them very hot.

I had a HUGE crush on John Luke. But I couldn't date him. It would just be awkward with our families so close. It'd be like dating my cousin! Plus he had a girlfriend.

I continued with my notes.

Yes. Finally schools out! Now off to cheer!

"Katelyn!" I heard some sweet yet raspy southern voice yell behind me.

I turned. "Hey John Luke!"

"Um.. I was wondering if you wanted to go to the Jr. Sr. With me?"

"What about Emily?"

"Yeah umm.."

"Ummm..what?"

"We have some problems to work out so I need a date. Wanna go with me? Not as a date, just as like friends." I blushed.

"Yeah sure." I choked out trying my best to keep my voice from cracking.

"Alright so I'll txt you?"

"Yeah. You have my number right?"

"Yep! Well I better get going. See ya around Katelyn!"

"Bye John Luke!"

I ran as fast as I could to the locker room. I screamed as soon as I got in there.

I got many responses like "Ouch!" and "What the heck?"

"I got a date for the Jr. Sr.!"

"No freakin way. Now I really am the only one without a date!" said Sofie.

"With who?" asked my beat friend Abby.

"Guess."

"Umm.."

"Carter!"

"Ish no!"

I got many more guesses before Abby finally said John Luke. I was about to say yes when I heard the door open and closed with a loud bang. And guess who it was? Emily.

I'm completely fine with her but if my boyfriend asked another girl to a dance because we had 'problems' I'd be livid.

She walked in with mascara half way down her face along with the mini rivers that had formed.

This should be good.

A/N: Okay so, I don't know how long I should make my chapters. This one was reeeaalllly short but I just wanted to get the story going.

I'll try upload the next chappy this week. It is the beginning of the quarter so we don't have any major tests or anything to study for. If it isn't up this week it will be up next week so...bye
