Dominic's eyes snapped open and he frowned. Where the heck was he? The room was cold and quiet. Too quiet. It smelled sterile and faintly like burning flesh. He wrinkled his nose. His brain felt foggy and he breathed deeply trying to remember how the heck he'd gotten here. 'Zampa?'

'Yeah?'

Dominic smirked. Zampa definitely had an attitude. 'Why do I feel like I got hit by a truck?'

'We sort of died,' came the solemn reply.

'Great. Do you know what happened?' He knew this had something to do with Alpha Anthony.

'No. But someone ripped our heart out.'

'What?' That was a new one. 'But it didn't kill us kill us.'

'No.'

'How long?' He wasn't liking this. Natalia would have been vulnerable the entire time.

'Not sure. I'm still tired. Too much healing.'

So was he. He was going to require some more rest but for now he needed to find out what the heck had happened and where Natalia was. He hoped she was okay. He didn't trust Anthony.

Dominic sat up and swung his legs over the bed. Why was he naked? Nothing like waking up from a death experience and finding yourself naked. His gaze swept the room as he looked for his clothes, but of course they were nowhere to be found. He sighed with annoyance and wrapped the sheet from the bed around his waist. It looked like he was wearing a toga but it would have to work for now.

He was pretty certain he was in the hospital judging by the scent. But the place was practically empty. He walked down the hall and saw a woman sitting at the front desk. "Ma'am?"

She looked up at him, screamed and fainted, falling out of her chair.

Dominic frowned and hurried over to her. He knelt down beside her and shook her a bit until her eyes opened. "Are you okay?"

"You were dead!" she said, staring up at him.

"I don't die. It kind of sucks, but you can't kill me," he said flatly.

"That's impossible."

"I wish it wasn't but it is. Can you tell me what happened?" He sat back, suddenly conscious of what he was wearing. Oh well.

"The old Alpha brought you here and Commanded the doctor to open your chest. He came back the next morning with a woman. I'm not sure who she was. But she challenged him and took over the pack," she explained.

"Natalia," he growled. What all had happened while he was unconscious?

She shrugged. "I don't know. I didn't witness it. I just heard about it."

"What happened when he brought her here?" He was trying to piece it all together.

"He killed you or so I thought." She was staring at him like he was a ghost.

"In front of her?"

She nodded.

That sadistic bastard. He couldn't even imagine what kind of pain that would have caused her. If she hadn't killed him, he would. "Where is she now?"

"I'm not sure. I don't even think she's the alpha anymore," she murmured.

Dominic frowned. "How long ago did they come in here and kill me?"

She glanced up at the clock hanging on the wall. "About 6 hours ago."

Not long enough for him to fully recover. No wonder he still felt physically drained, and sore. His chest ached. He didn't even want to think about what had happened to him and was glad he'd been unconscious. "I need some clothes."
