"In your life you will meet shooting stars. You will see them, make your wish and see them disappear." - Nahiar Ozar

The branches of broken trees slap against Ayla's face as she sprints through the forest. Her legs are burning, aching, hurting - but she doesn't stop. She can't stop. Not until she finds Sophia.

She sees the two walkers who chased Sophia into the woods in the distance and therefore knows her friend can't be far. She increases her speed to pass the walkers but carefully keeps her distance in order to not attract their attention.

And then she sees her.

Sophia is splayed across the ground, mud covering her clothes and her doll. In her haste to escape the monsters she must've tripped and fallen on a tree branch. Ayla rushes over to her and quickly pulls her to her feet. At first, Sophia fights thinking Ayla is a walker, but when she realises it's her, she sags in relief.

Ayla catches Sophia's eye and brings a finger up to her lips. "We need to go, they're close." She whispers and then grabs Sophia's hand and leads them deeper into the forest in a quiet sprint.

They run until they reach a creak and their lungs are burning too hard to continue. They're both bent over with their hands on their knees in the middle of the water, trying desperately to get air into their lungs.

Ayla knows that they'd stayed still too long. That they shouldn't be stationary when being chased by monsters, but she just needs one second. One little second. Only to catch her breath and then they'll be on the move again.

She should've trusted her instincts.

Because just as she turns to tell Sophia they should keep running, she sees the two walkers approaching the edge of the creak, already stepping off the small cliffside and falling towards the two of them.

"Sophia watch out!" Ayla shouts as she shoves Sophia out the way, causing the first walker to fall directly on top of her.

Ayla struggles against the walker. Its jaws snap at the air in front of her face, trying desperately to take a bite out of her. She can see from the corner of her eye that the other walker is approaching a crying Sophia as she desperately tries to find some sort of weapon to help Ayla out.

But Ayla knows that if Sophia stays here any longer both of them will be dead.

"Sophia!" Ayla screams. "Run!" She urges the girl as she still struggles with the walker on top of her.

Sophia looks at her incredulously as she unconsciously retreats further backwards from the other walker. "Im not leaving you!" She screams back.

Ayla shakes her head. "I'll be okay!" She assures.
