Dean walked back into the lecture hall the following day. His emotions were a mix of excitement, nervousness, and most of all, confusion. He was excited to see if his decision would go in his favor, nervous if it would completely backfire on him, and he was perplexed as to why he had such a fascination with the professor he hadn't even known for a day. He saw that Professor Novak was early today. Dean could tell that the professor had already graded the papers but he was looking them over, most likely, to find out what numbers were answered wrong so he could lecture about it. The professor looked up as Dean passed the desk to go sit down and their eyes locked for a second. Dean was the first one to break eye contact. He looked away, a little embarrassed at the prolonged eye contact, and went to sit in his seat. "I wonder if he knows that I failed on purpose," Dean thought. He then shook his head. "Cut it out! I need to stop acting like a teenage girl who has a crush on the most popular boy in school. I need to act tougher." Dean was snapped out of his thoughts by the sound of Mick's voice. "How do you think you did on the test, Dean?" Mick asked. "Did Mick know?" Dean thought to himself. "Why are you asking me?" Dean thought that Mick was singling him out. "Well, I asked everyone else," Mick answered. "It's only common courtesy to ask as well." Dean realized that he was completely wrong about Mick. He must not have heard him ask the others. "Oh," Dean said as he registered what was said to him. " Yeah, I failed that shit."
Everyone looked at Dean with shock, even Crowley. "Why in the bloody hell would you do that?!" Crowley asked, very loudly. Some people looked over. "Keep your voice down!" Dean said. I don't need the entire school to know. Just you guys, the professor, and my dad." Charlie had a confused look on her face. "Why would you want your dad to know?" She asked. "My dad sent me here and I don't want to be here," Dean said. "Maybe if I fail, he'll change his mind and take me home." Dean was only half lying. That was another reason why Dean had failed. Benny then patted Dean's back. "You've only been here for a day, brother," Benny said, finally joining the conversation. "Don't make your mind up about this place yet." Little did Benny know that Dean's determination of the place would be solely on Professor Nokak. Speaking of which, the professor stepped up to the front of the class since the period had started. "All of you did great on the quiz," Professor Novak said. "There are some questions that the majority of the class missed, so we will be going over those. I will pass the quizzes back now." He walked around, passing back the pieces of paper. When Dean got his back, the first thing he noticed was big bolded words that formed a sentence on the top of the paper. "Meet me in my office after school. My office number is 333." Dean's heart skipped a beat. He put his quiz away and started to zone out, wondering what would happen.
