-"We're still clo-"my voice died in my throat as I raised my head to look at the newcomers.
I'd been too submerged in the piece I was working on to notice when people entered the shop, but the shadow that suddenly loomed over me brought me back to reality. Granted, it wasn't the biggest shadow, but something in the general atmosphere of the store shifted, and I suddenly felt tiny in my chair.
In front me, Levi just came in, accompagnied by his blond coach/friend. Altough the latter looked at me with a smile so wide it seemed almost fake, the former just stared at the shop as if someone had forced him to come, despite him being the one leading the way. I tried to get over my initial shock and took off the glasses I was wearing. Seems like something in the air made all customers start acting dumb all of a sudden.
-"We're not open yet." I said while vaguely gesturing to the sign at the door, which might've been useless if none of them could read, "we don't open for like-" I trailed off, checking the clock on the right wall, "Another half an hour. You can come back later."
My voice remained steady but the hand I had conveniently hidden under the table was shaking pretty bad. I had no clue what these two were doing in our shop, and something about the frown on Levi's face told me that they probably weren't going to leave until they'd gotten what they wanted.
-"Yeah, we know. We wanted to avoid having any company, so we came by a bit early. I'm Furlan by the way, and this is Levi." Said the blonde guy, turning to Levi and nudging him while muttering something about how a smile would be nice.
His glare only deepened.
-"Well... That's not how it works. You can always come at nine sharp." I barely stopped myself from adding a 'hate to break it to you'. Not sure whether the added sarcasm would be too much.
-"It's just that we have a pretty special piece, and we didn't want to have others around."
-"We take customers one at a time, and if I'm being honest, we don't have that much traffic. So believe me, no one will be racing with you at the opening to get here first."
I was starting to get pretty mad at his apparent unwillingness to budge, but he didn't seem to care.
-"Levi told me that you fixed Rhodes watch yesterday."
-"Yes. So what ?"
-"It was foreign technology. So you must know a thing or two about that."
'Foreign', which pretty much just meant from a city outside the limits of the Underground. The area was severely underdevelopped, so technical progress wasn't exactly its strong suit.
-"Again, yes. But it doesn't change the fact that we're clos-"
-"Fucking hell !"
Levi slammed something on the table and I couldn't help but flinch, reaching instinctively for the gun I kept under the table for self defence purposes. Before I could pull it out though, he lifted his hand and I saw that he didn't exactly hit it in an attempt to intimidate me. He'd just put something there, apparently seizing the occasion to shut me up.
-"Here. You could have given us the info we need and let us go in the time you kept arguing."
A frown made its way to my face. Like I was the one senselessly arguing.
Something about having the strongest man in the Underground look quite pissed in front of me calmed me down. I grabbed the object he'd so gently given me and examined it. A gun. If one look is all it took to get rid of them...
-"What do you want to know ?"
Furlan pushed Levi aside, probably not trusting him to continue the conversation.
