waking up

I woke up to a voice. It was an unfamiliar voice, calling me to move.

"Chaewon? Chaewon! Wake up! We're about to go!"

I was confused, understandably so. Moments ago, I should have been in my house, and now I wake up in a foreign place with a human alarm.

"What..." I stumbled, coming to my senses. I realised the person in front of me had a sword. Not a knife — I would be very concerned why someone would have a knife on hand, but it was a double-bladed sword, according to the sheath. I am equally as concerned about why this person would have a sword slung on their waist. I rubbed my eyes and looked at him closer. He was in gear, with metal armour and leather protection.

"Hey, Chaewon? Why are you just staring at me... Get a hold of yourself! Did you sleep yourself silly?"

Sound was the second sense that registered. Chaewon? My name is not Chaewon. Perhaps he's right, and I did sleep myself silly. I pinched myself to testify.

"Ow..."

The man in front of me was rendered speechless. Then, he started laughing. "What? Did you think this was a dream? You've been a little cold recently, but you've still got a cute side to you!"

What?? Calling this 32-year-old man cute is... Ah, right. Placing together everything, I was definitely in someone else's body. This is like one of those transmigration or possession fantasy novels.

I stood up unsteadily. Everything was higher than I realised. Wow, being young is great. All the soreness in my body was gone. I went and checked the body's phone, ignoring the other who began to ask me questions.

"Chaewon? Hey, did you get shy? You've reverted to your usual self."

So this body's owner was rude and couldn't put up with the bare minimum of conversations? Okay. Can't wait. I've been a civil servant who had to kiss ass for so long, that this is refreshing.

Thankfully the phone had a face recognition technique. Haa, technology. It would have been troublesome if I had to do a password unlock. The date... was the same. I checked the news. This guy barely has any form of social media. I had to go to their website.

"Whatcha looking at? We're about to go soon." He smooshed his face near my phone screen. Thankfully, to the long arms I have, I pushed him a considerable distance away and continued to read.

"Hayeon Guild, Han Yoohyun, and his brother, Han Yoojin..."

"Hm? You're reading about the scandals? Right, that Han Yoojin! He's been riding his brother's coattail for so long! He doesn't even back down from the dungeons, even if his leg is broken. I heard his brother never even visited him at the hospital when he got that injury. It's a shame how brothers like them can end on terrible notes like these, too."

Hmph. Blood relations don't mean anything in social relationships, anyway. All they mean is a way for people to excuse their actions. But, back to the topic... I recognised the names. Han Yoojin, and his younger brother, Han Yoohyun, the Guildmaster of Hayeon Guild.

I wasn't a web novel reader myself, but my friend was. She would tell and pester me to read the novels, and I hesitantly did. I don't know how I get swayed by her— no, actually, I do. She's annoying when it comes to these things. She would never stop yapping about it, so I read them to get her to shut up. Well... there were some gems in the stories she recommended, anyway, so I suppose I can't paint her in a bad light. I'll just leave her in the grey area, then. Anyway, The S-classes That I Raised was one of her new fixations, and it's the novel I was currently in. The main problem was... I didn't manage to read it yet. Bastards. Of all the novels you could pick, you pick the one I haven't read.

"Alright, everyone!" The supposed party leader stepped up and clapped. "Last check-up before we set off. Have your ice-resistant items ready!"

Ah. I haven't had time to check my window yet. Give me a second...

I wasn't sure how to open it. If muttering it in my mind doesn't work, then I suppose I'd have to call it out... Oh.

A blue tab appeared in front of me.

Ahn Chaewon (S class)

Stamina: 65
Strength: 22
Agility: 67
Mentality: 70
Mana: 171

I couldn't tell if this was high or not, but looking at this guy's overwhelming mana stats compared to his other ones, I guessed he was a mage.

I checked his skills.
_

Psychokinesis (S)

The ability to manipulate things with mana per their will.

User cannot use psychokinesis on themselves.

No Presence (S)

Allows user to have no presence. Cannot be detected unless user gets touched.

Mind Reading (SS)

User can see the targeted organism's thoughts.

Although the description was short, I could understand the general concept.

'This guy is a psychic...? Psychokinesis, mind reading, and practically invisibility...'

Shouldn't he be leading the team instead? What was he doing, hanging around behind the group?

"Are you done checking? It's a hard world for us B ranks, so let's stick close together."

B? B??? This guy is B rank?? With three S and above skills???

Okay, body owner. I've guessed what you're doing. You're hiding your skills, aren't you? This old man will play the mysterious character you've always wanted to play.
