Aurella leaned back in her chair and flipped the page of her translations, glancing between the textbook and the parchment where she was writing. The Hogwarts Great Hall had been set up with the Triwizard Cup in the centre, glowing an ominous blue and students milled around, waiting for people to begin putting their names into the cup. Every time a piece of parchment vanished into the cup, a roar of flames would lift up and blue lights would dance around the hall.
All of the Beauxbatons students who were old enough to participate had already submitted their names earlier in the morning, and now most of them lounged around the Great Hall working on their own studies.
Aurella glanced up at Kira, who kept moving her hand in an attempt at a wandless charm. A glass remained stubbornly on the table, almost mocking her bright-eyed friend. Across the hall, she could see Henri and a few other boys from Beauxbatons chatting with Hogwarts students in yellow and green ties.
They had been joined by Ginny and Hermione earlier and were now watching as various Hogwarts students entered their names. Just earlier, a boy named Cedric Diggory-- who both Ginny and Hermione had fawned over-- had dropped a piece of paper in, much to the cheers of the school.
Aurella tapped her nails on the wooden table, and glanced towards the tall doors of the Great Hall, just in time to watch Fred and George jog in, carrying a potion between them. She scowled at the latter.
They came to a stop near them, where another one of their friends waited with a massive grin.
The twins had drawn the attention of most of the hall and Aurella rested her head on her palm, watching as they opened the bottle. It was well-known knowledge that they were upset about the age restriction that Dumbledore had implemented and were looking to circumnavigate it.
"Is that an aging potion?" Ginny murmured.
Aurella nodded. The electric blue was recognizable even from afar.
Hermione snickered. "That isn't going to work."
George heard and turned his gaze to them. Aurella bristled at the attention of the dark eyes.
"It will," He responded. If it weren't for who he was, she might have found the confidence attractive. Instead, she stiffened, laying a protective hand on her runes.
Aurella snapped back. "No, it won't. Do you really think the headmasters didn't think of that?"
He bristled, but returned to the potion, pointedly turning his back to her. Aurella rolled her eyes, returning to her work.
"Really, what happened between you two?" Hermione asked. "I've never known anyone to dislike George so much."
Kira glanced between them. Her Italian friend was one of the few people that Aurella had told about the pond incident. Subtly, Aurella shook her head. The less people that knew, the better. She didn't want anyone to know what had happened. She had worked hard to build up a reputation, and the pond incident getting out would only make it worse.
"It's not important," Aurella waved her hand in dismissal, although she felt a pang of regret from the look of hurt on the witch's face.
Together they watched as the wizards approached the cup, having downed the potion. They walked across the age line, and it seemed as though the room was holding their breath. There was a moment of silence before cheers broke out.
Aurella rolled her eyes, hating the way everyone was grinning at George. Even Henri, who was typically so stoic, was smiling. Her heart sank slightly. She wanted him to smile at her.
There was a pop, and instantly, the twins were thrown across the hall. Instantly, Aurella stood, looking to where they had landed in a heap of black robes and red and gold ties. They stood and Aurella couldn't hold in a laugh. They were now sporting matching white beards, having aged what appeared to be several years.
Even as they vanished from the hall, no doubt seeking out a nurse, she couldn't stop laughing.

That evening, back in her dress uniform, Aurella settled at the end of the Gryffindor table with a few other Beauxbatons students, watching as Madame Maxime, along with the two other headmasters and a few representatives from the ministry prepared to draw names from the cup. The chatter was loud around them, excitement palpable as people waited for the Triwizard Tournament to begin.
It seemed that Kira and Ginny had quickly hit it off. Aurella turned away from Hermione and her countless ancient runes questions-- which Aurella greatly appreciated-- to listen to the other two girls.
Kira was speaking English so fast that her accent was beginning to dominate, but thankfully Aurella had spent many years listening to Kira's excitement to know when her friend was talking about Quidditch.
"The chasers on Holyhead Harpys are world-class!" Kira exclaimed. "Can you imagine seeing them in person?"
Ginny nodded rapidly, her red hair bouncing. "I would love to see them play the Quiberon Quafflepunchers. The game would be so fast and you would barely be able to see any of the balls."
Aurella smiled, happy that Kira had found someone to engage with her. She was about to ask Ginny to recall something from the World Cup to tell Kira when Fred slid along the bench, interjecting.
"If you are interested Kira, the Gryffindor team, even though we aren't doing the quidditch cup this year, is having a round of training tomorrow evening if you want to come watch. Alicia Spinnet is one of our chasers and she is incredible. Rumour has it she might get scouted once she graduates."
Kira's eyes lit up. "Yes, please! I would love to watch it. Can Aurella come?"
Aurella glanced at Fred, who smiled at her, a cheeky grin working it's way across his face. "Of course she can, though she's seen us play enough I know she'll be bored."
Aurella snorted. "I will come anyways, in the hopes that you get hit by a bludger."
Fred laughed and Aurella ran her finger over the rim of her water glass, glancing across the tables. Henri was sitting with the Hufflepuffs, the powdery blue hat seated perfectly on his fluffy hair.
She sighed and turned her attention back to the Gryffindor table, just in time to catch George's stare. He scowled at her once and looked back at his twin.
Aurella rolled her eyes, intending to turn her attention back to the girls, when another new face, with dark curly hair, came walking up. She quickly sidled up on the bench next to George, who quickly looked uncomfortable, scouting closer to Fred.
"Who is that?" She whispered to Ginny.
The young girl followed her gaze and smiled. "That's Angelina, she's also a chaser, Ron reckons that she fancies George."
Aurella's eyebrows shot up. Someone liking George? That was unlikely. Still, she turned her gaze back to the boy, who had an annoyed expression on his face. His eyes briefly darted to hers and she gave him a mocking smile.
He frowned at her and her smile grew. Oh this was going to be excellent ammunition.
