Rain pattered on the thick glass windows of the the bungalow. The trees swished around in the harsh wind. The faint golden glow coming from inside the house casted an eerie shadow around the dark forest outside. Somehow, the frogs and crickets seemed to enjoy this and began chirping out a song.
The permanent and temporary residents living in the small house had just finished supper and were watching a popular English movie from the 1950's called Chinatown.
Margaret wanted Jungkook to watch it because it will help improve his English, but he insisted on turning on the Korean subtitles. Margaret was reluctant, but Lucas managed to convince her, saying that he should enjoy the movie itself more instead of trying to learn English from it.
"He can't miss this movie, Margaret! Who knows if he'll even have time to watch it once he gets back to Korea."
Speaking of going back to Korea, Jungkook and Lisa only had a few more months left until they can return back home. Jungkook was very impatient to get back, although he tried not to show it most of the time.
He was very grateful for Lucas and Margaret's willingness to help him and Lisa. Jungkook sometimes thought about what would've happened to them if nobody was on this island to help. They should be dead right now.
But they weren't
And that was Jungkook's limit for pondering on that topic until he forced himself to switch his thoughts onto something else. Specifically speaking, the situation between him and Lisa.
I'm so mad at myself. Why did I lash out at her? She's a kpop artist just like me, and a novice at that. And I accused her of doing something to my brain?
And now she's not talking to me anymore
Well, I'm not either... I still need to fix this. We only have each other in this situation, we can't be fighting now.
"Awwww", Margaret squealed, interrupting his thought process. Jungkook looked at the screen to see the main couple sharing a sweet kiss. He felt Lisa, who was sitting beside him, shift a little in her seat on the couch.
More towards Margaret, to be specific.
More away from him, to be even more specific.
Jungkook felt his throat go dry.
His eyes itched to look at Lisa.
He tried to turn his attention back to the old television, but the scene was only getting more... intensive.
Jungkook cleared his throat lightly and looked down, fidgeting with his fingers.
Out of the corner of his left eye, he say Lisa playing with a bracelet on her thin wrist.
He swallowed the urge to look at that girl's little face.
Why am I acting like a swooning idiot??!! Jungkook cleared his thoughts and rubbed his nape, looking away.
It's NOT like that... I don't like Lisa. She's just someone I... care about.

Lisa looked away before the couple even kissed. She's only seen couples from k-dramas kiss, which were somehow more familiar to her. But this was just awkward.
Especially with Jungkook her. She only watched k-dramas with her unnies, not with a guy.
Lisa scooted closer to Margaret, suddenly feeling like Jungkook was too close.
As the scene turned more intimate, she couldn't take it anymore.
Lisa stood up, her legs starting to tremble slightly
"M-margaret?"
Lisa's ears were on fire. Why did I stutter like that?? She felt Jungkook look up from her side as if she called out to him instead.
"Um, I have to use the bathroom real quick..."
"Of course, sweetie... Is anything else wrong?" Margaret asked her, concern showing on her face from the dim light from the TV.
"Oh! N-no everything's fine!", Lisa hurried away, too embarrassed to stay there longer.
She rushed to the bathroom and locked the door. She bent over the sink, her breath coming in short gasps.
What am I doing right now?? Watching sexually intimate movies with a guy I barely even know while my grandma is dying? Lisa clenched her fists tight, shame burning in her guts.
I can't stay here anymore. I need to go back home
