The alarm clock is ringing, Nazila wake up. "It's already 9:30, today is your graduation ceremony," her mom says.
Nazila groans, "Please let me sleep a little longer. I was up late last night writing a poem."
mom responds, "You and your poems! You can't be late for your graduation ceremony. Learn from your brother, he has never been late to school."
Nazila - "Mom, please don't lecture me so early in the morning. And let me tell you, your son steals money from my bag."
mom chuckles, "He's just a kid, he must want some chocolate."
Nazila retorts, "Yes, if I did the same, you would announce it to the whole society."
mom- "Alright, get ready, and remember, we have been feeding you like a garbage-eating pig for 22 years."
Nazila replies, "Yes, I know. Once I find a good job, I'll repay this favor."
*"Oh, you must have seen the chaos in my family's life early in the morning. Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Nazila, a 22-year-old English honors student. Initially, I wasn't interested in English, but when I saw my marks in the 12th-grade result, English was the subject with decent marks. At first, I thought college would be like a scene from Karan Johar's movie 'Student of the Year,' but that was just a dream. Nevertheless, I'm going to Mumbai to pursue my MA."
Mom: I've ironed your graduation dress; it's in my wardrobe, take it.
* one quality I really like about my self i always manage to look top-notch, whether it's for fresher's day, farewell, or exams, and today is my graduation ceremony.
Nazila: Mom, once again you made same breakfast, I want idlis, I don't like cornflakes. At least today, let's have the food I like.
Mom: Shut up and eat, otherwise give the food to the dog, poor thing might be hungry.
Nazila: No, Mom, I'll eat! It's better to eat this rather than to stay hungry.
By the way, where's dad? We have to go to college, but he's nowhere to be seen.Mom: He went to get chocolates and sweets for the relatives.
Nazila: Wow, Mom, keep a big Dairy Milk for me!
Mom: You're 22 years old, use your brain a bit. Behave like a 22-year-old girl, when I was your age, I was married, and at your age, you were in my lap and you were 2 years old.
Nazila: So what should I do? If you let me date someone at that age.I wouldn't be in such a miserable condition today, I would have gotten married.
Nazila!
Nazila!Nazila: Who's shouting my name so early in the morning?
Rimi: Nazila, let's go, we're running late. My dad will drop you and your parents to college.
She's my best friend who has been putting up with me for 3 years. She provides me with pick and drop service because I'm quite lazy. I don't even eat food on my own. She sometimes even takes notes for me if I doze off in class. What would I do without her?
Nazila: Didn't I tell you to get ready properly today? And where are my flowers?
Rimi: They're in the back seat.
How can someone forget to buy flowers for her own graduation ceremony?Nazila: Rimi, I told you to wear the same matching dress.
Rimi: I couldn't find a matching one.
Nazila: Ugh! At least you could have done your hair nicely. Come on, I'll get you ready.
Rimi: We're running late.
Nazila: It'll only take 5 minutes, come on!
And so, shining like diamonds, we made our way to college.
Nazila: Rimi, I don't have money, yet I look this stunning. Imagine what I'd do if I had money.
Rimi: That's why you're my bestie!
*laughter*
Now, after the graduation ceremony, my parents come to pick me up.
Dad: Nazila, pack your bags. Your cousin called and informed about your admission in Mumbai. I've booked a flight for you after 2 days.
I was really excited to go to Mumbai, but now that the time has come, I feel a bit uneasy. I read a quote somewhere:
"The one who wants to wear the crown, bears the crown."Dreams may seem beautiful, but to make them come true, we have to put in effort. Nothing comes for free in this world.
Let's see how the next journey unfolds.
