Chapter 13: Awake in the Nest

Waking up in a new place, Skyelle is surprised to see Catnap again. However she suddenly recognizes him, and her old feelings for him re-arise.

But would he feel the same back?

Sudden pain. That's what I was feeling. I felt like I had got hit by a train. My eyes open, and I groan. The weight on my leg makes me look down at it.

Of course it was bleeding some. But who bandaged it for me? The last thing I remember was... running from Dogday, and getting stuck. Then passing out.

I sit up some, not recognizing my surroundings. Where was I? I surely was still in Playcare somewhere. A giant bed made for a giant host.

Wait a sec. Catnap. I remember seeing him before. Was he somewhere around? And he was...

"-Theo." Speaking to the air, I don't expect to hear paws thumping around. My heart jumps when something pops up behind me.

Turning slowly, I see him. Speak of the cat. "Oh, you're awake." That echoey voice speaks to me. I almost don't expect him to speak. Then again, he was human once.

My blue eyes look fearful. He sits by me, tail wrapped up. He towers over me in height. Must be at least 20 feet tall. Goddamn, never thought I'd see my old friend that tall before.

Speaking up in a scared tone, "Catnap? You're really alive. And you're-" His white pupil-less eyes stare at me. Silently watching me.

Then came the reply, "Yes. I am..." Answering for him, trying not to break again. "...Theo?" He shivers when I say his real name. Like it was making the cat act up.

His claws dig into the bed, making biscuits. It was damn near adorable to see the giant cat act so... well, like a cat. My favourite cat too.

But then my feelings were acting up. They were slowly, but surely returning. Coming back here, I wouldn't expect to see him in such a form.

My hand slowly inches towards his nose. Stopping himself, turning to see my hand stop. And then he bends down for me to reach him. Waiting. Planting an unsure hand on his nose, he purrs.

Petting the feline, I say to him, "I missed you friend. I thought they took you away for good. I don't know what happened, but know I'm here for your sake..."

Taking my hand off, he opens those white eyes of his. In his echoey voice he speaks. "I missed you too. Our last interaction went terribly, didn't it?"

I chuckle, frowning. "Sorry. I really didn't mean to snap. My mind was a cluster at the time. I know it's no excuse! Yet, I want to have a do over, please."

My heart thumps in my chest as Catnap stays quiet. "I saved you. When Dogday was chasing you. Meaning, I want to make it better with you. God, nobody's ever made me this... tongue tied."

Blush evident, "Uh- yeah, same. Look... I had, and still do have something to tell you. A three year old couldn't do it, but I will now. I- I like you. A lot."

Eyes watching as he takes it in. And then, "I might have started feeling the same when I changed. Like I can't get you out of my head. Now my feelings have grown since I saw you here."

My gasp is cut off when he shoves his snout against my mouth. A surprise tongue enters my cavern, making me moan a little. Catnap's claws hold me as we makeout.
