chapter four - I love you

I walk into Alex's house "hello?" I call walking in from the garage where I left my longboard. "Alex isn't home sweetie, you okay?" Alex's mom says pulling me into a hug. I show her the note from this morning. "I thought...." My voice trailed off. "I know honey, he'll be here." She sighs and pays my back. "Hey sis, you look nice?" Derrick (Alex's only older brother) says walking inside holding something with my name on it. "Yea you look ugly too." I smile "gimme" I say sticking out my hand. "Nah" he said "come get it" he says running up the stairs. "I'll get you, you little s**t" I run up the stairs behind him. He runs into Alex's room where there's a S**T load of stuff, "card please." I take the card from his hand and read it. "Babe, I got you a few things when I left your house this morning. Open each one with my idiot brother, then ask my mom to drop you off at the pier. It'll be worth it i promise." I smile "Derrick" I whine "help me?" I open each gift, band merch, gift cards, pictures of me and Alex, band posters, a new chocker, and an empty box that says "you get this one at the pier" on the bottom. I run downstairs and show Alex's mom the letter and the box. She droops me off at the pier. "Have fun kiddo, he loves you." I give his mom a smile and a wave goodbye. Next thing I know I'm in Alex's arms being carried bridal style to the sand. "We'll hi to you too." I laugh and give him a kiss. He sets me on a blanket in the sand. We're just sitting there holding hands and taking about random things. We have both been silent for about two minuets. "Sam?" He looks at me. "Yes?" I say turning to face him. "Can I tell you something?" He looks into my eyes. "Yes of course! Anything." I say getting worried. "I love you..." "I lov...." He cuts me off. "No Sam, let me finish." He says pulling me into his arms. "Better yet let me start over..." "Samantha Marie Davis, I love you so much, and it hurts sometimes because I've been such a douche lately.. You know today marks 10 months? * I nod * babe tell me the last time we... I did something for our anniversary? * I smile weakly and keep listening* I'm the worst boyfriend ever.." He crud out. " but you're the best girlfriend in the world. You're so strong, And independent, and your so beautiful babe. * I wipe his tear away* you're perfect. I have your last present then dinner then the rest of the night you pick I pay. I've been the worst and I owe you so much more then I could ever give you... I love you Sam." He looks at me. "Alex... Babe... You're the best boyfriend I've ever had, I can't thank you enough for all you've done for me... * I pause * I got you something too but you first, and I love you more then you'll ever know. "
