Morning broke out, My eyes darted to the hallway where I heard Nana walk out of her room and go into the kitchen. I stood up from my seat on the couch and walked into the kitchen myself to greet her. "Morning, you sleep well?" She chuckled and nodded. "You seem to be in a better mood now. God must've cleared your mind." She began to start a warm, fresh coffee pot and she sat at the table. I sat down beside her and smiled with an exhausted smile. "I guess you could say that..." I muttered, my eyes fixating on the currently brewing coffee. Silence hit my ears and I grumbled. "It's your third night taking the night watch. Have Sam take it up?" I shook my head and smiled. "No, It'll be fine. I got this." She looked at me as if she didn't believe what I said. "Mijá. You need to sleep." She sternly added and then let the situation pass. I sighed and laid my head on the table. "I'll make sure we get the security cameras. I'll send Phoenix and Alex out with Sam, and have Caiden watch from a distance to recover." I nodded and tiredly grumbled. "I'm gonna go greet Rilee, and once the sun is up, that's when I'll sleep." I smiled, stood up, and made my way out of the kitchen. I could feel her gaze of concern as I left her alone.
Making my way outside I pulled my hair back out of my face with a sigh. I rose my head to see Vincent sitting in my spot with his head down and his hands clasped together. I note the bat beside him and sit in the empty spot on the bench in front of Rilee's grave. He rose his head to my arrival and smiled. "Morning." he chirped up. He seems less tense than usual. I nod in greeting and look past the forest in front of us. "What time do you plan on leaving for the camera's today+?" His voice interrupts my thoughts again. "I'm not leaving. Sam, Phoenix, and Alex are though." I saw his mood change through the side of my eye. I cocked my brow and watched him. "Ah, and what will you be doing?" I turn my head to him and he immediately smiled. "Sleeping. Caiden will be recovering today. Nana will be cooking, and Charlette will be foraging for weapons in my dads shed." He nodded, taking in the information. "What can I do to help?" he seems eager. I thought for a moment as I looked back toward the forest. "You can go with the trio to forage for food and weapons...or you can repair the window in Nana's room. I have many ideas for you if you wanna help." He thought and looked toward the grave. "I can help with the window." he finally decided. I nodded and stood up. "Glad we came to an agreement." I mutter, putting my hands in my pockets and preparing to leave. He stops me by speaking again. "Have a good nap Azrael." I managed to leave and make my way back into the house. Sam, Caiden, and Phoenix were finally awake. Sam acknowledged my existence by placing his hand on my shoulder. Caiden looked away, and Phoenix smiled at my arrival. "Good morning! Nana is gonna make pancakes, and then me, Sam, and Alex will head out!" They chirped, their voice as happy as usual. I'm not gonna lie, I'm quite impressed by the strength they developed within a couple of weeks. "Alright. I want Sam to take the shotgun, you can take the bat, and Alex can take the backpack to hold the cameras. While you three are out Caiden will scout from the front porch to maintain your safety. If he spots anything he'll alert you by waving his arms, or by calling you on the Walkie Talkie." Sam nodded and spoke up. "What about you?" I sighed and rubbed my neck. A bit ashamed. "I'll be here recovering the sleep I've been lacking lately." Sam nodded, patted my back and looked toward Caiden. "Make sure. He sleeps." Caiden rolled his eyes and nodded.
After thirty minutes of eating and getting ready, Alex, Sam, and Phoenix prepared to leave the house. Phoenix wore a backpack, Sam held the shotgun, and Alex had a bat in hand. After hugging and bidding our farewells. The three left.
