Here is a new chapter:
Chapter 7: Adjusting to a New Normal
I wheeled myself into the living room, feeling like a stranger in my own home. Everything looked familiar, yet somehow different. Maybe it was the fact that I was now relying on a wheelchair to get around.
Tulisa plopped down on the couch, eyeing me with a mixture of curiosity and annoyance. "So, Jules, how's life in the slow lane?"
I shot her a glare, trying to hide my frustration. "It's not funny, Tulisa. I'm just trying to adjust."
Mom intervened, as always. "Tulisa, let's be supportive. Jules is going through a tough time."
I appreciated her efforts, but it was hard to shake off the feeling of helplessness. Physical therapy was grueling, and progress was slow. I longed to walk again, to run and dance like I used to.
Ana visited me every day, bringing much-needed cheer and encouragement. "You're doing great, Jules! You'll be back on your feet in no time."
Her optimism was contagious, and I tried to embrace it. But some days, like today, felt like a struggle.
As the evening drew to a close, Dad helped me into bed, his expression soft with concern. "We're proud of you, Jules. You're strong and capable. This is just a temporary setback."
I smiled, feeling a lump form in my throat. "Thanks, Dad. That means a lot."
As I lay in bed, I realized that adjusting to this new normal wouldn't be easy. But with the support of my loved ones and my own determination, I could face whatever came next.
