Chapter 4: Predator and Prey

Arissa covered her face with shame. She should have known better than to slack off or half-finished her chores. She deserved to have that black eye while her husband locked her outside of their bedroom. Crawling onto the sofa, she began to cry silently because Vinn hated the sound of her sniffles and whimpers.

It was until she uncovered her face that she was meet with the reptilian eyes of Ghidorah.

"D-don't worry about me," she assured him with a smile as she wiped the tears from her puffy red eyes. "I lost track of time and didn't know he would be home so soon."

But the dragon was not convinced. He stretched a single claw to touch the bruise from her eye, causing her to wince in pain. ::He hurt you.:: he stated in a neutral tone. Arissa was somewhat thankful that he doesn't pressed on about her marriage. There were some instances where Vinn would shower her with love and gifts, making up for all she had to endure.

Instead of answering the golden dragon, she felt a sharp pain in her stomach. It was as though a thousand knives were stabbing her all at once. The baby was getting restless and it was going to give her a restless night despite doing all she could. Ghidorah on the other hand, leaned forward and lets out a few rumbled growls.

::Is the prey struggling to escape?:: he asked, causing her to raise a brow. Did he- no, he actually did!

Arissa touched the pain from her belly. "Ah, no! But can you whisper? Vinn could-"

::This communication is only between us. He won't be able to hear my voice even if I raised it.::

This slowed down her beating heart since she does her best to pick up on her husband's footsteps if she accidentally made a sound when he wanted some peace and quiet. Ghidorah slightly nudged her swollen stomach with his snout.

For a moment, the pain persisted but eventually the baby became calm. She wondered if this former destroyer from outer space was becoming a little game for them. Arissa smiled a sad smile. "This is not prey. I'm having a baby...his baby. Like if you had a mate and laid eggs from the union. I've always wanted to be a mother but...I wished I was better at this..."

It was from there that she had started to sob again. She was ashamed to be crying profusely in front of a dragon but right now, she doesn't care. Vinn wouldn't wake up unless she broke something so she had all night to weep.

::Little Human...::

She wiped a tear and gave him a shaky smile. "Arissa. My name is Arissa."

Chuckling in deep growls, he motioned her with his head to come closer to him which she slowly approached. She was very much afraid if he had decided to eat her ever since their first meeting. But he surprised her.

And he surprised himself by what he was going to do. Ghidorah drew her body into his large wings and enveloped her into a hug. His body felt so warm against the Australian cold weather at night. Soothed by the warmth, Arissa buried her head into the crook of his neck, noting how bumpy those scales felt against her skin.

She felt guilty, crying into the wings of a dragon that almost destroyed Boston if it wasn't for Godzilla, but now, there was nothing more than the warmth that radiated from Ghidorah's scales. Her hands tentatively traced the spikes along his head, causing him to let out a few thrills.

Arissa sighed, feeling the tip of his claws rubbing her back when she rests her cheek against his warm scales. There were a lot of questions she had wanted to ask him such as his brothers or how long until he returns to his original size, but for now, she wanted peace.

And ironically, this was something Ghidorah had given her. Even the unborn baby was not thrashing about or messing up her cravings for something weird. The more she traced her fingertips across his scales, the softer his body felt.

Thankfully, Vinn had not come out of the room throughout the night.

"Why are you doing this?"

::Hmmm?::

She pulled away from him to look into his eyes. "This. At first, you wanted to eat me and now, I'm here under your wings..."

Ghidorah huffed, hot air exhaled from his nostrils. He began to shook his head and lets out a frustrated snarl. ::I don't know. I just think it'd be the best if the little one has a peaceful carrier.:: Something about his tone sounded...confused for some reason.

::I may need to fly out to stretch my wings while night is young.:: he told her, tail flicking towards the window. Plus, he knew it would be a matter of time before that brainless ape would try anything with him. He could have just used his Gravity Beam or at least eat him as his next meal.

 Arissa was just thankful that he had not done so.

She opened the window for him to step out, wings already flapping to take off. He glanced back at her, a silence hung over them. "Thank you for not eating me, King Ghidorah."

::...Ichi...::

Stepping close to the window, she repeated, "Pardon me?"

::I am Ghidorah but my name...it's Ichi...::

With that, he took off into the night, leaving the young woman alone in the breeze of the apartment with a hand on her stomach. She thought that Ghidorah- no, Ichi's name sounded nice when she said it.

"Ichi...that's a beautiful name."

...

During his flight, Ghidorah tried to seek out different kinds of prey. Some from the sea away from Godzilla's territory, to the ever small rodents that popped out from the ground.

Now that he was at a smaller size, similar to humans, it wasn't long until he was full from a few bites. He was starting to like the taste of those furry creatures with long ears, jumps around a lot and carry their offsprings in a pouch-like stomach.

Speaking of that, he thought back about revealing his name to that little human- no, Arissa. He won't admit it but he loved the sound of her name whenever he tried to say it for himself. Spotting a few flashy lights from the horizon, he flew over and landed on top of an old architectural rooftop.

Thankfully, the humans beneath him were busy carousing and calling each other to even turn their heads up to where he perched. He decided to use this opportunity to observe their behaviour and understand things.

Unconsciously, he turned his head to both his left and right, expecting either one of his brothers to be there. A part of him was glad that they weren't attached to the body, since the three of them do share dreams whenever they sleep.

His mind still lingered about that little woman and the offspring that was sired by that...

Shaking his head, he couldn't wrapped his head around why he would think about a significant little human. Her bright eyes, how she managed to stay strong despite her mate and...

Letting out a frustrated "Bidibidibidi" over the loud music, he began to stalked one of the stumbling humans to satisfy his frustration.
