Chapter 1: Awake at Last

The sounds, screams and piercing shrieks were the norm when he woke. But what was so different than before was the dead silence of the night except for the occasional humming of insects thanks to his superior hearing.

In fact, for the a moment, he turned his head to find nothing beside him. On his left, the same as well. What was happening to him?

Slowly, he began to walk- or in this case, crawl toward a nearby lake. It was small and pathetic compared to the lakes he had seen across every galaxy. The night was smattered with stars while the moon was at its peak.

Finding the water enticing, he began to lapped it up until it was half-full, where he could easily see the fishes frantically swimming in their narrow space. Laughing to himself, he began to snap up a few to satiate his hunger.

The shallow lake still had a surface for him to gaze at. When he saw the image before him, he lets out a loud "Bidibidibidibidi!"

Where were his brothers?

Ni, his right head was all about aggression while his left head, San...well, he's something alright despite how many times he was an embarrassment.

He couldn't believe it. One head, a body all for himself. Turning his head around, he noticed that he had a single spiked tail instead of two. For a moment, he experimented his new body by moving around and flapping his wings that formed a hurricane.

Alone. Something he was not used to because his brothers were with him since their hatching day. He recalled the memories of being disintegrated by Godzilla's atomic blast with the combination of Mothra's powers.

Damn that lizard, he thought to himself. Taking off, he decided to survey the area and see if he could find some answers. He was after all the most intelligent one out of the three heads. Maybe he doesn't need Ni or San for this.

The breeze doesn't bother him. In fact, it spurred him to fly faster through the night's sky above the clouds. There was a puny little creature that looked like the pathetic titan named Rodan, who fluttered in alarm at his sheer size.

"Bidibidibidibidi!" he laughed that matched the distant rumbling of thunder. He destroyed a lot of worlds and conquered them but this place? He might explore it for a little while until he gets bored and find another planet to destroy.

Little creature made a hooting sound, trying its best to match his wings. 'Yes, fear and admire me, puny Rodan. You will be my next meal before I reach that tree. Then, maybe those little insects Godzilla loves so much!'

Food and water wouldn't be a problem and with only one head, he had a feeling that he could adjust to his new abilities and maybe unlock some hidden power that he will use to destroy Godzilla once and for all.

For the first time, he decided to enjoy his little moment of independence.

...

Meanwhile on the other side of the world, a young woman was hanging up some clothes from the balcony of her apartment. It wasn't easy since there was a significant bump between her and the clothesline.

That said 5-month bump made her clutched her stomach from the sudden pain.

She was wearing a mint green maternity dress that complimented her fair skin and long black hair that reached her back. Although she was in her 30s, this was her first time carrying someone so precious before they were out into the world. Rubbing her tummy, she said, "Can you please stop wriggling for a bit? Mommy needs to hang daddy's bedsheets before he comes back."

Adjusting her maternity dress, she hoisted the bedsheet up again and finally it hung over just right. It would be any minute now until her husband comes home from work and she could finally let him try her cooking of steamed white rice with runny egg and chicken as its blanket.

Just then, the door of her apartment was kicked open, revealing a fair man with a buzz-cut black hair in a smart office attire and a slim backpack over his shoulder. His face was sour, a contrast to what she would imagined to be his signature movie star smile.

"Welcome home. I made something special for tonight," she greeted him with a smile but her husband only kicked his shoes aside and headed straight into their bedroom without even looking at her. He must have a very long day, which she knew quite well to not bother him on the details if she doesn't want to stress out the baby.

Their baby.

Her husband was working at a tech support company that required the long hours of his time. When they got married, he insisted that she stays at home while he brings home the money. Although she wasn't sure by this, both her in-laws and parents agreed since it was what she was trained for since young.

"ARISSA!" her husband barked from their bathroom.

"Y-yes?" she managed to ask. His shouts were enough to give her a scare but tonight it wasn't too bad. Waddling slightly, she made it to their bedroom's bathroom. Her husband shoved out a bottle of shampoo from the door.

"Why isn't there anymore of my shampoo? I had a long day and YOU did not check the bathroom to see if anything runs out?"

Clutching her stomach, she took the bottle from his calloused hands. "It's in the cabinet drawer near the sink, Vinn," she reminded him gently. All of our shampoos and soaps are in there. Vinn lets out an exasperated sigh.

"Arissa...I had a long day at the company today. The least you could do is change the shampoo for me before I come home. Oh well, I don't know what the hell do you do all day while I am at work."

"I've been-"

"Shut up. Just get my dinner in here and leave me alone, okay?"

With that, he slammed and locked the bathroom door. Since the shower was running, it was the only time she allowed herself to cry without making a sound. He was right and she should have done better. How was he supposed to be happy or smile if she kept making all of these mistakes?

Putting Vinn's dinner on the tray with a glass of water, she carried it to the table in their bedroom where her husband would sometimes bring work to their bedroom. Eating her dinner alone at the dining table, she gazed out at the window to find the night skies clear and full of stars.

The best thing to see ever since she moved to Perth five years ago before she met Vinn and everything else that fell into place. He was her Prince Charming and she was his princess. Taking a small bite of her cooking, she rubbed her tummy assuringly.

"I hope tomorrow will be okay," she sighed to herself, gazing at the stars.
