Ava walked through the front door and closed the it quietly behind her.
In her hand was a plastic bag full of goodies and things she hoped would help to make you feel better over these next few days while you fight off this terrible cold you've come down with.
The house was quiet but it didn't surprise her. It took her longer at the store than she intended.
Your eyes were barely open when she left.
Curled up under the covers as your favorite show played quietly in the background, you were already slipping into a peaceful sleep when she left.
She, however, was surprised to find that you weren't on the couch where you were resting previously.
She frowned and climbed the stairs before walking down the hall to your shared bedroom.
She was relieved to find you in bed, but it melted her heart, even more, when she noticed that you were asleep on her side of the bed.
She put the bag on the table by her side of the bed and knelt on the floor in front of you.
She ran her hand along your back until your eyes slowly fluttered open.
"Hey, angel. Are you alright? I expected to find you on the couch still." She whispered softly as she rubbed your back and shoulders.
"I came up to bed because I knew I'd be more comfortable here." You explained as you tried to keep your heavy eyes open, but it was becoming difficult.
"I understand, lovely. I got you some medicine and some Gatorade and soup. I also got you a new fluffy blanket, because I know you're cold." She said with a small smile as she pulled the blanket out of the bag.
She pulled the tag off and threw it over you.
Right away, you hummed, happy to be enveloped by the warm and fluffy blanket.
"Good? Wanna take your medicine? Or have some soup?"
"Maybe later. I wanna sleep right now. Want you to hold me."
She cracked another tiny smile and had you scoot over so she could climb in beside you.
She happily held you close and laid soft little kisses on the crown of your head.
"I love you. Sleep well." She whispered and watched as you drifted off to sleep in her embrace.
