You woke up just as a shiver went down your spine.
Too tired to open your eyes and thinking you had just kicked your blanket off in your sleep somehow, you reached down to grab it.
You expected to feel the warm and soft fabric against your fingertips but all you felt instead were your pajama bottoms.
You reluctantly opened your eyes and blinked a few times to adjust to the darkness.
You sat up and felt around the bed for your cozy blanket.
It was only when you moved your hand toward the right side of the bed, where Ava was sleeping soundly, that you felt it in your hand.
You breathed out in relief, thinking you'd just pull at it and you'd be able to wrap yourself up in it.
But when you tugged on it you couldn't seem to pull it toward you.
You realized that the reason why was because your girlfriend was sleeping on it.
She had it tucked beneath her hip.
Tiny snores occasionally left her lips, signaling that she was far away in dreamland.
You hated the idea of waking her up and interrupting her good sleep.
Not just because she works so hard most days and needs her sleep, but the thought of disturbing her tends to pull at your heartstrings.
You dreaded it.
You wanted her to be able to sleep well; she deserves it.
But you're so cold and so tired.
You wanna cozy up under your blanket and go back to sleep.
So, sadly, you knew you had no other choice.
"Ava? Ava? Wake up." You whispered as you rubbed her back.
She rolled over to face you, tiredly rubbing her eyes as she whined a little because she didn't want to wake up.
"I know you're tired, my love. I'm so sorry to wake you. I won't keep you up, I just need my blanket."
"What?" She asked, confused and sleepy.
"You stole my blanket, baby."
She opened her eyes and moved her hand to her hip, where your fluffy blanket was wrapped around.
She arched her back a little, allowing you to take it from her.
She snuggled up under her own blanket while you did the same with yours.
"Sorry I stole it. Are you still cold?"
You shrugged.
"A little. But don't worry about it. I'll be alright. I'll be all warm and cozy in a moment or two, I'm sure." You said and put your head back onto your pillows.
It was only a few seconds later when you felt Ava's arm go around your stomach, hand resting comfortably over your hip.
Even though you were sleepy you still couldn't help but smile a little.
Her fingertips were brushing over your blanket and you enjoyed her touch.
"Better?"
You kissed her cheek then closed your eyes.
"So much better. Thank you. Love you."
"Love you more, baby. Sleep well."
