Questionable - New Life

It's been 3 months since I've entered this strange body. I can now say that this is definitely not a dream and I'm definitely not insane!

There have been a few times where I was outside and I can tell that this is like the typical historical fantasy novel that every reader has read once. Firstly, there is an empire in which we are currently living in. There are a lot of monsters too, even though I haven't seen one so far. Let's not forget about the magicians. Oh, and fairies! But they don't really look like fairies to me when I saw them drawn in the children's book...

Whatever, it seemed like my mother lived alone with her two young sons, Kyle and William, and me, her new baby that came out of nowhere. When people heard about my existence, they started to give her more glares and hate than usual. Is it because I look completely different than them? For some reason, I had light brown hair and green- more like hazel eyes? For a short while, my new brothers were weirded out too, but got used to it pretty fast.

Not much time passed by, but I heard from my mother that it's already been 10 months since I was born. It must be, because I was always sleeping or spacing out which was really weird. I could mumble a few words, but that was it. The weather is getting colder now and my mother seemed to be scared that her children would get sick so she was barely letting them out the house, unless it was necessary. To be honest, time was passing by really fast. Just after a few weeks from my point of view, it already became spring again. Meaning I was already over 2 year old.

Kai, my older brother, would often hold me and walk around the village, proudly showing off his younger brother with sparkling eyes. Of course, he couldn't go out alone since he just turned 10 years old. Ivan, my oldest brother, who is already 16 would accompany us, so people wouldn't throw stones or fruits at us like they usually do. I still couldn't figure out why would do such horrific things. I expected Kai to ask our mother why it happens so often, but it seemed like he already knew the answer and kept quiet.

I just held on Kai's shirt and tucked my head into his shoulder. Shortly afterwards, I heard two voices of older women whispering "Poor child. To think that an innocent kid had to be raised by those monsters..!", her eyes got teary "I know, right? This kid is clearly not hers! She must have kidnapped him and pretended to be her mother or...", their voices got quieter. I couldn't believe my ears. Is that what they think of us? The women glanced my way, but rapidly looked away in fear. Oh, I must have stared for too long.

I wasn't sure what I should think about that. It's true that I look different, but that doesn't mean that they should call my mother such horrible names. And to think that they would call these kids monsters just because they have a lighter hair colour than others...! We were almost reaching the field that was full of flowers. It was quite empty, because some of these flowers were meant to be harmful to some people, not all though. Kai blinked in confusion "Why are you so quiet, Leon? Are you okeyyyy?" His voice was pretty loud. I shook my head. Suddenly, Ivan took me in his arms. He was way taller than Kai so I could see the field better.

"Is it possible that you can't tolerate some of these flowers, baby?", "WHAT??!" Kai's voice got louder. Ivan might have a point. Whenever I would come up here, I would feel miserable, mentally drained and exhausted. It looked pretty, but that's it. "You shouldn't be allergic to anything, Leon. We aren't allergic to any of these either!" I looked at the kid. I didn't have the ability to speak yet so I kept quiet and tucked my head into Ivan's shoulder. My older brother told Kai to watch his tone. We stayed in that field until the sun was setting.

Ivan was brushing through my short hair. "Such a lovely child you are. Indeed, you are completely different from both of us. We used to be noisy and energetic when we were around your age. ", he smiled at me, thinking that I couldn't understand a single word he said. "Maybe you will be the reason for the bright future that is lying ahead of us.", he mumbled and gave me a quick kiss on the head. As the sun was setting, I felt my eyes slowly closing. Maybe this life won't be as bad as I thought it would be.

(Note: Wait for the plot twist 😇)
