Lester was covered in grease and had a big smile on his face, he couldn't help smiling when he thought of Jay.
"Who did you have fun with last night?" asked one of the other mechanics, intrigued.
Lester blushed and just looked down, smiling. He wasn't sure if he should say anything because he didn't want to jinx it. This is good, he thought, new town, I don't know anyone, no-one to remind me of ... his smile disappeared as he continued working.
Just then his phone rang. He knew the ring tone but his hands were dirty so he asked the other guy to get it for him.
"It's some guy, he wants to speak to you," said the guy.
He blushed, and caught the phone with a rag so as not to smear it .
"Hello?"
"Am I getting you at a bad time? I thought you might be free for a chat at lunch time."
"Jay! " said Lester, smiling. "We work through lunch, but it's good to hear from you. How are you doing today?" He couldn't hold back on his warmth, he had gone to sleep thinking about this guy last night.
"I'm great, how are you? Busy by the sound of it..."
"Yeah. But we get lunch in a while. Hey you want to hang out soon?"
"Sure, I'd like that. When are you free?"
Lester thought for a minute. '"How about we go to the movies on Friday night?"
"Sure, great!"
"OK I'll check the movies in town and call you to see which one you like."
"Great Lester. Well I'll let you get back to work, just wanted you to know I'm thinking of you and looking forward to seeing you again."
"Same here, Jay. You're a nice guy and.." he stopped short, thinking whoa, this is going fast.
"You there?" asked Jay, sounding worried.
"Yeah," answered Lester, a bit more grounded now. "Listen I gotta go but I'll call you tonight, OK?"
"Sure, Lester, looking forward to it," answered Jay.
"OK bye."
Jay hung up and Lester smiled to himself again. The other guy was looking at him.
"So?"
"So I think I have a date coming up," he said, smiling.
"The same one you were smiling about this morning?"
"Yeah, sure," answered Lester, smiling more, "the guy from last night."
"Guy?"
