"It's already past 8 and why isn't Haerin home yet?"

Danielle grumbled as she paced back and forth in their shared apartment, taking glances at the clock every minute passed by. Usually, her girlfriend would arrive home safe and sound at exactly 5 and she would always tell her in advance if she were stuck with either a last minute deadline or meetings.

All of a sudden, it then hit Danielle like a strike as she recalled. Earlier today, she yelled at her Haerin as the feline didn't make their bed before going to work. Everything started to make sense since there were no phone calls informing the Australian why she was coming home late.

Danielle knew she shouldn't do that to her beloved but she just couldn't help it. Although Haerin never argue back or showed any sign that she's uncomfortable, deep down Danielle knew way too well that the Korean was trying to hide the pain away from her and that made her feel guilty. She's somehow in a love - hate relationship with the fact that her girlfriend would apologize and take the blame for everything, even if it wasn't her fault.

People were familiar with a joyful and full of sunshine Danielle but only Haerin got the lottery to see the grumpy, sulky side of her who painfully suffered from cramps on her period. Well, she's still a healthy woman with a normal menstruation after all and she had the right to do that when she felt uncomfortable. And it's such a tiny argument that Haerin shouldn't mind. Right?

Danielle fletched her phone which was left on the coffee table and started to dial the person who she thought may have some clues about Haerin's whereabouts.

"Hey Dani, wassup?" The other side of the line greeted her with a honey and enthusiastic voice.

"Oh hi, Hanni unnie. I know it's kinda late but still, I just wanted to ask if Minji unnie was home yet since Haerin isn't."

"That's strange, Minji was home hours ago anyway. Let me ask her real quick to see if she knows where Haerin is."

Danielle started to feel worried and insecure at the same time as she patiently waited for Hanni to double check with Minji, a very close friend and also Haerin's assistant.

"Did you see Haerin pack her bag to go home when you were leaving, Min?" Danielle could hear her friend's voice echoing as she asked Minji on the other side of the line.

"Haerin?" She then heard Minji's interrogation. "Kiddo said that she would work overtime today when we were having lunch together. Work has been hectic lately since we signed a 2-year contract with a really big corporation."

"You heard her, Dani baby. Your girl is probably working her ass off to give you a better life and try to pamper you like a spoiled princess so you don't have to worry."

"Unnie, Haerin is the company's CEO and we're living in a freaking penthouse together which she bought with her own money. And for your information, she makes me feel like a spoiled princess everyday, not in the "trying process" anymore."

"Well it's good to hear that she takes good care of my bestie and lucky you then. Me and Minji are still waiting for your little kitten to pay her salary monthly. Speaking of which, I better go now since someone is whining like an insane horse. She has been waiting for this movie night forever and complaining that it's taking me so long to answer the phone."

"Oh right, sorry for bothering you two. Have fun and remember the protection!" Danielle bursted out laughing at what she had just said.

"Oh you little rascal, you are starting to sound a lot like your girl." Hanni rolled her eyes at the joke and soon followed her best friend with a sarcastic laughter. "Really have to go now, love you!"
