As I walked in, my eyes drifted around the quaint family owned cafe and they landed on one girl in particular. She was sitting, her back to the door with her short, messy hair thrown into a ponytail, tapping her pencil nervously on the table and writing in some small notebook, which she immediately threw in her bag as I approached. She stood up to greet me with an awkward hug and as we pulled away I looked her up and down. She was wearing a blue polka dot dress and she looked stunning with light makeup and cute pink lips. I realized I was staring and I had to look away.
"I..um..hey, how are you?", I finally managed to spit out.
"I'm great! Excited for your suprise?", Perry said, as I watched the way her fingers fiddled with her bag.
"Of course, let's get going, I can't wait"
"Um, well, first"
I waited for her to gain her composure and she pulled put a red strip of cloth, which made me nervous. She slowly walked around me and tied the blindfold on, as if it were some romantic gesture, such as delicately putting on a necklace. Great, I wore heels and now I have to trust someone to lead me around the city, but I had to admit, it made me excited like a little child waiting for their present.
We walked for what seemed like hours but was probably only ten minutes before she had me stand still while she undid the blindfold.
"Oh my god, Perry!!", I nearly squealed I was so excited.
I was standing in front of the most grand and beautiful carnival and circus spectacular. When I first met her, I had expressed how I had never been to a circus but I wanted to so very badly.
We walked around for hours on end, visiting all the fun tents, and she even put up with me standing memorized in front of all the acrobats and beautiful contortionists. We sat at a booth eating cotton candy she had bought me, mine pink and melting, hers blue, nearly gone already. I was staring at her again, watching her hands lightly pick of pieces of colored sugar, placing in her mouth, closing her eyes as she let it melt and swallowed. Every little detail, her frizzy hair in the sunlight, the twinkle of gold in her beautiful brown eyes, and the way she smiled with her rosy pink lips whenever she caught me looking her way. She was breathtaking and I was really starting to love her.
Falling in love with polka dots and cotton candy.
