NIGHT TIME, CHANDU'S VILLAGE
Vijay arrived at Chandu's village under the cloak of night, his steps weary yet determined. The faint glow of lanterns flickered in the distance as he approached the familiar doorway. With a deep breath, he softly called out, "Amma, Amma."
From within, a warm, gentle voice answered, "Come." He heard the rustle of fabric as Amma rose to her feet. Moments later, the door creaked open, and there she stood, her eyes reflecting both worry and warmth. She stepped aside, allowing him to enter.
“How is Kashi now, Amma?” he asked, his voice barely above a whisper, heavy with unspoken fears.
Amma placed a comforting hand on his arm, her gaze steady. "Everything is fine, son," she assured him, her words carrying a quiet strength that momentarily eased the turmoil in his heart.
Vijay's gaze fell upon Kashi, lying silently in the dim light. Her face, pale and serene, was framed by loose strands of hair that clung to her forehead. His eyes traveled to her wrists, swathed in fresh white bandages, a stark reminder of the pain she was still enduring.
A wave of helplessness washed over him, tightening his chest. How he wished he could take away her suffering, bear it himself if only to see her smile again. In that quiet moment, he felt his heart clench, overwhelmed by a mixture of helplessness, sorrow, and the desperate hope for her recovery.
“Kunwar Sa you, come here,” Kashi beckoned weakly, her voice strained as she tried to sit up, determination flickering in her eyes.
“Hey, you lie down, princess,” Vijay urged, his tone firm yet gentle, rushing to her side. Carefully, he slipped an arm around her, helping her rise without straining herself further.
"Shalini... she didn’t come?" Kashi asked, concern clouding her gaze as she glanced at him, her brow furrowed.
Vijay hesitated, his expression darkening. "Malini has deployed her goons in the palace today," he replied quietly, steadying her as she finally managed to sit upright.
“What?” Kashi gasped, staring at him in disbelief. “But why? What is she planning now?” Her voice shook, the shock evident.
"Yes, Kashi,” Vijay continued calmly, meeting her eyes. “Malini has stationed her goons everywhere. They’re watching every corner of the palace, tracking every move.” His words hung in the air, heavy with unspoken worry as he pulled out his phone and dialed Shalini’s number.
After a moment, the call connected, and Shalini’s voice filled the room, laced with concern.
“Hello, Vijay ji?”“Yes, Shalini, I’ve reached,” Vijay replied, his eyes roaming the surroundings as he spoke. “Let’s make a video call. Just wait.” With a swift motion, he initiated the call, holding the phone up for Kashi.
