Chapter 1 Philip's Journey

I had a loving family, a father that has a spirit of a warrior, a mother that has eternal beauty and passion for all, two older brothers that are smart and fierce, and a twin sister who was the light of my world. It all changed...when...

Both of our Parents went missing, when we were young age, kuya Del-10, kuya Martial-09, Pia and Philip(me)-06.

And now it's only 4 of us, we were alone and scared and no one was there to take care of us except for our tita and tito...--(Unknown?)

But that's all i can remember, years passed and my kuya del got a job as a teacher in a university called the UN Academy that is known to be picky for their students and teachers. Me and my twin sister tried to get a scholarship, she got in and i didn't, she didn't want to go unless i go but i told her it was ok.

She smiled and went with kuya del, months passed and they never called. Until a year after we were informed that my twin sister has been missing for over 3 months.

The light of my world is now gone, for my kuya del, i despise him, i feel betrayed he didn't tell both me and kuya martial about Pia's disappearance i will never forgive him...never.

2 years have passed since the incident, the authorities and the school never do anything except giving us the same amount tuition fee. Until a letter from my door step was delivered it said.

Dear Philip Maharlika

This is from the headmaster, himself of UN Academy and i am offering you the scholarship to our school, please accept our offer, we know that you have to dealt the lost of your sister in our name and we sincerely apologize and feel sorry for not taking any responsibility and action of the incident . But we see your potential, out of all the 100 Filipino students that are willing to take this academy, only you and 9 other students have passed. You Mr. Philip Maharlika see the future of our planet and our home in you. So please take your time to think about it, your first day of school is next month so we expected you to arrived soon.

As I red the letter, I was taken aback of this opportunity though I was hesitant at first so I asked to my older brother Martial. Though it wasn't easy to talk since he's been very busy before and after the incident, because he's been studying criminology for sometime and training in the army so he doesn't come home too often only once or twice a month i supposed. Not until a week later at Saturday.

"Hi kuya" , I greeted him with a hug "Hi, Philip I brought Jollibee for dinner" , Martial replied "Salamat kuya, you've must been really busy this month.'' , I said with a smile and worried tone. Kuya gave me a reassuring look that he's fine, which I know he is not.

I sighed and said "lets eat before the food gets cold" , he nodded and both went to the dinner table to eat.

As we both eat I felt like, I was forgetting something. "Kuya, I got a letter from the UN Academy." I blurted the silence and the awkwardness in the room was loud, but kuya Martial the silence by replying. "Really, what did it say?" , he questioned. "Remember the time I retook the test 3 months before they informed us of sisters disappearance?" I said, "yea?" he replied. I look at him seriously before saying, "I got in". He was disbelief, "well, congrats." he said while eating his chicken, while mine was getting cold.

I was a bit surprised because usually he would just yell at me that i shouldn't go. "Are you alright?" I questioned him, he look at me seriously. 'there it is the kuya that I know' I said in mind.

"Philip." , he said "Its fine by me if you go to the academy" shocking. "why so?" I replied. "Well Philip, you are a smart kid after all and I think its best for you to go, because I cant bare the fact of you stay at home alone, working for food and electricity even though kuya del sends us half of his salary for this house. And plus you have your own future to build upon." I listened quietly to his words, and yes its true that I live alone and have to work for food and expenses. I sighed after thinking for awhile.

"Kuya maybe your right, I should focus and take the scholarship." I said, he smiled "Thats my little bro, and now eat your food or Im going to eat it for you." he said, I laughed and enjoy the rest of the night.

A month has passed.

I already pack my things that I need for this school year, like clothes, school supplies, and other essential needs. Now I just have to pack, oh. A picture of me and my siblings, no matter how I hate my kuya del for not informing me about Pia's death I still love him as a brother he has done many sacrifices for us yet, I'm kind of disappointed in him.

After I put all of my luggage at the back of my taxi and went to the airport to leave.
