Heartbeats In The Underworld: Serpentine Hearts

THE BEGINNING

Alessia's P.O.V

I was about to get my beauty sleep when four men came into my room and attacked me. I managed to bring down two of them, but I got stabbed. Since I thought I was going to die, I said a prayer in my head which was the only reasonable thing I could think of.

"Dear God, I know I've done a lot of awful things in my life. I'm really sorry, please forgive me and accept me as your good and faithful servant when I come home. Amen.

I'm not really the Christian type, but hey, I tried, even though I knew that prayer obviously wasn't gonna work. Then, after that prayer, I received the final blow and. I fainted😢

I woke up to find myself on a hospital bed, in a very big room that didn't look like a hospital ward. I looked around me and saw an office desk, a laptop, a big picture on the wall of the Jolly Roger, and unfortunately, four men at each corner of the room. I tried to get up but collapsed back down on the bed as pain shot through my body.

"Where am I?" I asked myself. I wanted to ask the weirdos around me but I decided not to.

Suddenly, a tall man in black came into the room and walked towards me. When I took a closer look at him, my jaw almost dropped. He was so handsome. He had dark brown hair, very fair and flawless skin, and he had heterochromia, which gave him a sea-green colored eye and a blue eye.

He came and sat beside me and kept staring and smiling at me for like FOREVER. I suddenly realized that I may have been kidnapped by this guy, so I decided to act defensive.

"What am I doing here!" I screamed, kind of.

"Geez, you sound tougher than you look. Anyway, I wanna hire you."

"HIRE ME! I DONT WANT A JOB AND EVEN IF YOU WANT TO HIRE ME, YOU SHOULDNT HAVE HAD TO BRING ME OUT IN THE NIGHT! LOOK WHAT YOU DID TO ME!" I said, pointing at my bare waist.

He just laughed and jerked his head towards the door as a signal for the men around us to leave, which shattered my bravery and made me really scared.

"Did you ever realize you are on drip?"

I looked up and saw a bag containing fluid which was connected to a tiny pipe that ran down into my hand. "Uh, nope."

"Even after I indirectly kidnapped you, I attended to the wounds my men caused you to get, and you cant even be the least bit GRATEFUL! I shouldve let you die of excess bleeding if I knew you were gonna be like this."

I could see he was getting really mad about the situation. He walked to the desk at the far end of the room, and brought out a small knife with Chinese imprints on it and an apple from a basket in one of the lockers. "Rule number 1, if youre gonna stay here, dont touch this knife, its really sharp. Look at this."

He dropped the apple on the stool and split it into two with an incredible amount of force, making it fly into the air, and in a blink of an eye, he sliced the pieces into four before it could reach the ground.

"Don't get me wrong, miss. I'm not gonna kill you with it."

"I know you wont kill me, but who are you, sir?" I asked, still blinking at the four pieces of fruit on the floor.

"I am the founder and highest Mafioso of the Mafia organization called the Serpents, which, is where you are right now."

"I was once in a Mafia, the Rascals, but I quit the job, and ran away. If they find me, they could either kill me or force me back."

"Don't worry, they won't kill you, I'll make sure, and besides the boys there would obviously rather kiss a goat than kill such a pretty girl," he said, and put a hand on my face.

I slapped his hand away and when I looked at him, I saw that I had hurt him a little, but he tried to cover it up with a mischievous smile, which, actually wasnt even helping. So, I decided to change the subject at hand. "Hey, I dont even know your name yet."

"Well, since Im not sure if youre actually staying, I only tell u my code name. My code names Jack, simply Jack. I already know your real name: Alessia Johnson."

I was shocked. What kind of stalker was this guy? "Anyway, what do you want to hire me for?"

"I want you to be part of my team, I've seen your skills, and I also need a new P.A. and the others won't volunteer. So what do you say?"

"Well, I'll think about it for a while. Give me tonight."

"Okay, you can sleep her for now, and since you appear to be fine, I'll tell the nurse to remove all those weird stuff on your body."

He called the nurse in and she removed all the disgusting stuff on my body and made me comfortable.

"Thank you," I said, happy and almost wishing I could run, but I thought deeply about his offer.

"How much will you pay me? Say for like a week?"

"Would you like $2,000?"

Holy shit. That means in a month, I'd get $8,000! But still, there were some thoughts I had that made me not so sure.

"Tell me when youre ready," he said, and walked out the door.

That night, I slept restlessly.
