The stiff didn't scream. Or shout not even with excitement.
I hear a small laugh cone from her.
A abnegation girl. Laughing. After she dropped 200 feet from a roof.
Me and a few of the dauntless stretch our hands out to her. She grabs my hands and I pull her out of the net.
She is small and light weight. After she stands upright again I return my hands to my sides quickly.
There's something about her. She seems brave and smart. She's so plain. But her eyes stand out like no other. Bright blue and daring.
"Thank you." She says simply nodding her head slightly.
Her pale blond hair is messy and falling out of its usual abnegation bun.
"Can't believe it." Lauren says coming up behind me, her long black hair is gelled back.
She looks at the initiate and smirks.
"A Stiff, the first to jump? Unheard of."
She really is aggravating, I give her a look but she doesn't seem to notice.
"There's a reason why she left Lauren. What's your name?" I ask.
"Um," she hesitates her eyes scanning the open cavern. I remember me, wanting to be remade here, deciding if I should change my name.
"Think about it, you don't get to pick again." A smile tugging at my lips.
"Tris." She says firmly, her eyes stern as she takes in her new name. I wonder what her name was before.
"Tris. Make the announcement Four." Lauren repeats her lip pulling up over her teeth, as she grinned. Her silver rings in her eyebrow clinged together.
I look over my shoulder, at the dauntless, and cup my mouth.
"FIRST JUMPER TRIS!"
Everyone cheers and pumps their fist enthusiasm spreading in the room. Hoots are followed.
The defenition of Dauntless right here. Tris scans the crowd of Dauntless and smiles, smoothing her long gray dress.
A nother girl drops down into the net. And by the colors of her clothes shes candor.
She wails as she falls. And the dauntless laugh followed by more cheering.
I look back at Tris. She is grinning but is silent. Lay my hand on her back and stare into her sky blue eyes.
"Welcome to Dauntless."
