Jimin's eyes fluttered open to the soft light of morning, his body weighed down by a deep-seated fatigue. The room was quiet, save for the gentle rhythm of Jungkook's breathing beside him. A sense of loss hung in the air, a silent companion to Jimin's omega's lingering sadness. Yet, he couldn't help but feel a thread of warmth knowing how steadfastly Jungkook had stood by him through their ordeal. No one had stayed beside him through his hard times. And Jimin remembered how Jungkook tried to calm his omega down... How he didn't blame him.
As he turned to observe Jungkook, he noticed the stark contrast of dark circles against his otherwise youthful face. It was clear that sleep had been a stranger to Jungkook too, his features etched with the signs of worry and sleepless nights.
Breaking the silence, Jimin's voice was barely above a whisper, "Could you get me some water? My throat seems to be dry." It was a simple request, yet it carried the weight of their shared vulnerability.
Jungkook stirred, his eyes meeting Jimin's with a mix of surprise and concern. "You look like you haven't slept well," Jimin added, looking at Jungkook's face. The man's youthful face had dark circles around his eyes.
Jungkook's response was hesitant, a testament to the unease that had settled between them. "I'm okay. Just.. It's been hard to find rest with everything that's happened," he confessed, the admission revealing the depth of his own inner turmoil.
" I feel happy. This is the first time you asked about me." Jungkook smiled at Jimin. It was genuine and so pure. Tears brimming his eyes even.
"Hmm" Jimin could only respond like that. He truly didn't care about Jungkook awhile back. Didn't he? Why did he ask now then? Jimin wasn't sure what changed. His heart felt thumping against his chest.
Seeking to bridge the gap that had formed, Jimin ventured further, "Jungkook-ssi, I need to ask you something important, and I need you to be honest with me." His tone was serious, a reflection of the gravity of his inquiry.
Jungkook's posture shifted, a silent promise to be there for Jimin in this moment of need. "Of course, Jimin. You can ask me anything," he assured, his voice steady despite the storm of emotions brewing within.
With a hesitant breath, Jimin voiced the question that had haunted him, "If I had chosen a different path, if I had wanted to focus on my studies instead of our family, would you have supported that decision?"
Jungkook's reply was immediate and unwavering, his words enveloping Jimin in a cocoon of understanding and respect. "Jimin, your life, your choices—they're yours to make. I would have stood by you, no matter what. I'm sorry for any pain I've caused you. My love for you hasn't changed, and it never will. I just really wish you had the trust in me to talk whatever it is... To tell me your issues... Your pain, your sufferings... Everything. I know it isn't possible to trust me after being an asshole. But..."
Jimin's voice was a mere whisper, laden with the weight of untold stories and unshed tears. "I... I was totally unaware of the heat-inducing drink. My mom never told me about that," he mumbled, his words barely escaping the tightness in his throat.
Jungkook reached out, his own hands trembling as he sought to bridge the chasm of their shared pain. "I'm sorry, Jimin. I've tried stopping that wretched ritual. I've argued with my family, pleaded for change. But they are still shackled to their traditions. That's why I wanted you to take the pill that day. It was meant to protect you. Oh god! Fuck their fucking traditions," he explained, his voice cracking with the effort of his confession.
A heavy silence hung between them, filled only by the soft symphony of their breathing. Jimin's gaze was distant, lost in the labyrinth of his past. "I know. I heard your confessions... At least now I see you're not like my father, who sold me off, or my mother, who chose silence over my suffering... Or my brother, who lacked the courage to defend me. You are different, Jungkook-ssi," he said, a fragile smile touching his lips, even as his eyes betrayed the storm within.
Jungkook's heart skipped a beat, surprise etching his features. "I know you. But... I don't know you. I yearn to trust you. Yet, I find myself adrift in a sea of doubt," Jimin confessed, the dam of his emotions finally breaking as tears carved rivers down his cheeks.
With every fiber of his being aching to comfort Jimin, Jungkook let his own walls crumble. "I'm sorry, Jimin. If you wish for freedom, for a divorce to escape this agony, I would understand. But know this... For me, my love for you is as boundless as the skies. I really really really love you Jimin," he sobbed, his tears mingling with Jimin's in a silent testament to their shared sorrow.
Through the haze of his tears, Jimin's eyes found clarity, and a whisper of hope danced upon his lips. "I want to know you," he mumbled, a tentative step toward a future they might share.
Jungkook's heart soared, daring to embrace the possibility of redemption. "Really? Does this mean you are willing to give me a chance?" he asked, his voice a mix of hope and fear as he wiped away the remnants of their shared anguish.
The sight of Jungkook's earnest, tear-streaked face coaxed a genuine smile from Jimin. "Yes. Let's begin anew, Jungkook-ssi," he agreed, a spark of something new and beautiful igniting between them.
Overwhelmed by a tidal wave of joy, Jungkook gasped for air, his emotions a whirlwind of elation and disbelief. "Oh my god! I need a moment to breathe. I'll return shortly," he exclaimed, rushing outside the room to release a triumphant 'yoohoo' into the night. Alone, he wept tears of pure joy, for in Jimin's eyes, he had never been, nor would he ever be, the villain.
And so, Jimin stood at the threshold of a new chapter, ready to embrace the marital life he once fled, with a heart open to the love that might yet bloom.
