"You have a collect call from, Saint Lee. Inmate in Piedmont Correctional Facility" Nai heard the automated voice say, making her a little emotional
"Do you accept the charges?" Once she accepted them the recording warned her about the calling being recorded
"Ayee babygirl" She heard her dad voice say through the speaker making her smile
"Hi dad, how are you this morning" she asked excited to heard from him
She haven't spoken to him in weeks due to him being in solitary confinement over a incident that happened with him, it made her uneasy knowing she wouldn't be able to talk to him for a while
"Man im doing just fine right now, happy to hear from you this morning babygirl" he said along with noise in the background
"I feel the same, I have so much to tell you but little to no time" she said making a small chuckle
"Tell me everything you can for now, im listening" He said in response
She began to update him about her lash business, the way her life is moving and how she's managing by herself. Also going into small details about Malakai but she didn't mention too much
"Sounds like your making it but having few rocky days, and that's perfectly ok. Im proud of the young woman you have become, just wish i was there to see it for myself" He said sounding sad
"How did you take, the day" Naiari said referring to the day of her grandmother's passing
She heard a deep sigh, then nothing at all
"It was rough, but i kept this head up and high cause i refuse to just be sulking around this upset or sad. I sent a prayer to her though, letting her know i miss her and things. What about you?" He asked
"Well i did the quite opposite, i indeed did sit and sulk for the most part. Then it was just over and on to the next day" she said shrugging
"I feel that, can't have too many sit and sulk days tho nai" he expressed
"I understand dad, i do" And just before she was about to speak again the one minute remaining warning blared loudly in her ears
"Until next time?" She heard her dad ask which made her smile and hold her pinky out
It was a thing they always did to ensure promises between each other
"Yes indeed, i love you " She said in response
"I love you too "
And with that the call disconnected, leaving Nai alone in bed just thinking
