Arc 10: Chapter 02: Close of Day

"I'd suggest running." the false (Y/N) said darkly as he discreetly moved out of the way of the incoming mob. He raised a hand over the false bruise. "Ow! Oh, sweet mercy, they nearly took my eye out!"

That seemed to be the nail in the coffin, as a few of the brainwashed civilians broke off from the mob to help the fake (Y/N) up and get him away while the others bore down on Ladybug and Cat Noir. The two heroes leapt to the top of the fountain, then jumped from there when the mob swarmed the base of the fountain, hitting the ground and starting to run.

"Rena, we need a distraction!" Ladybug yelled as she ducked under a thrown trash can lid. "Or at least a quick way out!"

"I already texted Max." Rena Rouge replied quickly. "He's about to open a portal right in front of you. Carapace and I are getting clear. We'll get him next time, LB."

"I'm worried there won't be a next time- ah!" Ladybug yelped as she and Cat Noir fell through the portal and onto the roof of the Montparnasse Tower, landing in a heap in front of Pegasus and a slightly amused King Monkey.

"Did you have to open it right below us?" Cat Noir asked as he rubbed his tailbone.

King Monkey shrugged. "Alya said it was gonna open up in front of you." He replied nonchalantly. "And someone fast could've blocked your way to the portal. So it made sense."

Pegasus nodded as he transformed back to normal. "We were still too close. Another few seconds and you would've been caught."

"What do you mean... oh, really?" Ladybug sighed as Bunnyx popped her head out of the Burrow. "Hey, Mari! Alya asked me to play mission control just in case. Y'know, keep an eye on the current events and all that."

"Okay, then. But why's Kim here?"

"In case a police helicopter comes flying by." King Monkey replied casually. "But that won't happen... I hope."

"You won't need to." Max replied as Kaalki finished her snack. "We're heading out. Kaalki, Full Gallop!"

Ladybug turned away from Max's transformation, hugging her arms and staring dejectedly at the ground. Cat Noir moved to her side. "Feeling okay, little bug?"

"We should have had him." Ladybug said darkly. "How does he have a... a... robot of himself? How long has he had it? How long has he planned this?"

Cat Noir sighed as he wrapped an arm around her shoulder. "Well, at least we know for a fact that (Y/N) is Dragonus. Of course, since everyone in Paris is definitely after us now, I'm not sure how we can apply that... but we'll figure it out. All of us."

Ladybug's lips twitched into a small smile. "Thanks, kitty. I just need to think about this... we really screwed up today, didn't we?"

Cat Noir nodded. "Yup." He replied, popping the 'p'. "It's not the first time, though."

Ladybug chuckled a little. "Things were a lot simpler, then. Now look at what we're dealing with."

"At least now, we've got the advantage of having a full team, and we all know each other's identities. We're stronger than ever before. We'll win."

Ladybug smiled again. "Yeah... one way or another."

"Portal's ready, Ladybug." Pegasus reported. "Where should we go?"

"The houseboat." She replied. "We can get the others there and..." Her words were cut off by the whirling of helicopter blades. Six police copters hovered around the top of Montparnasse Tower, spotlights trained on the heroes as a few riot cops started to rappel onto the roof.
