That night, college was over quite early. Again, our lecturer was sick. I think she might be pregnant or something like that. Whatever the reason, I was happy. Currently, I'm standing on the college balcony with Lulu and Andria watching Mara get her flirt on with Kayden. She is so freaking cute when she wants to be. I chuckled to myself. We were supposed to go get something to eat and relax the rest of the night.
Here, she comes skipping over to us with Kayden trailing behind her like a love sick puppy. Awwwww, how cute. When they approached us, Kayden wrapped his arms around her waist and rested his chin on her shoulder. Mara turned so red that she made ketchup jealous.
"Hey ladies, my boy Marshall is having a party. Tonight is his last night here. He's heading home tomorrow. Would you like to come?" Kayden asked us. Why did I feel sad about hearing Marshall leaving? It's not like I know the guy. What the fudge is wrong with me?
"Sure, we will come. Do you mind if Lulu and I bring our husbands?" Andria asked. Kayden said it was okay, and the girls all agreed to meet up at the club around 8. We all said our goodbyes to Kayden, who waved at us but ensured to give Mara a kiss on her cheek whispering something to her. I never knew someone could get this red. I will surely tease her about this.
After dropping the girls home, Mara and I went to our apartment to dress. Mara and I are from a small South American country named Guyana. We came over here to the UK after completing our Master's Degree in Education and obtaining remarkable marks. We were both offered jobs here, and we decided it would be great exposure for us. So here we are, and we have no regrets.
Mara was dressed in a black sequence sheer body suit paired with a shorts and matching jacket. Her hair was straightened and sleeked back. She completed the look with a pair of stunning hanging earrings and black heels. Her make was left neutral but flawless.
And I was dressed in a black thigh-high dress with cutouts at the sides and silver studs along the front. I paired it with my wedge heels Converse booths. I decided to straighten my hair and let out my bangs that I would normally hide. I did my makeup with nude lips and smoky eyes.
Damn we look like completely different people. I guess that is the point of dressing up.We pulled up at the club that Kayden told us about and found a parking right next to the girls. Apparently, they decided to carpool, so Samuel, Andria's husband's, was the designated driver. And well, of course, the unwritten rule between Mara and I is that I'm the designated driver.
We went into the club apparently our names were already on the guest list, and we were escorted to the private lounge where Marshall was having his party. The ambience of the club was really neat. There were flashing purple lights and a dj booth that was above the dance floor. There were no girls half naked serving anyone. The bar looked fully stock. Overall, it wasn't that bad to look at.
We went up a few flight of stairs then entered a room that I'm guessing was sound proof because this room had a totally different music playing that the one playing downstairs and we couldn't hair anything from downstairs. There was a semi-circular chair in the corner, a big round hardwood table in the middle and a big enough dancefloor and some bar stool along the walls. The lights here were white but dimmed, and few female servers were here.
Kayden came up to greet us, and I must say he looks amazing. He was dressed in a dark grey jersey with matching coloured jeans and black shoes. His hair was ruffled and unruly, and those eyes, damn. I looked over to Mara, and let me tell you, she was swooned. Hell, I wasn't even attracted to him like that, and I was swooned.
I leaned close to her ear and whispered to her ," Close your mouth, you're drooling." She quickly closed he mouth and wiped off before Kayden reached us. I chuckled to myself. So cute.
Kayden wrapped his hand around her waist and kissed her cheeks, greeted us, and then introduced us to the other people in the room. There was Curtis, Paul, Snoop, Dre, and of course Marshall, who was standing next to Dre staring at me.
The girls took their husband's to get a drink, Kayden took Mara in a corner where she was giggling like a school girl to whatever sweet nothings he was whispering to her. So that left me all alone standing there as awkward as I can be. I made my way to the bartender and asked him for a lemon water. You may have guessed by now. I don't drink. I then made my way to the door that led to the balcony for some much needed fresh air. Having Marshall's intense stare on me had me feeling hot.
"Hi." I turned around to the sexy ass voice, and there he was, all dressed in black tank top with a chain, white sweats, black and white Jordons, and beanie. He looked so good. I couldn't take my eyes off of him.
"Hi." I responded. It was so quiet that I didn't even think he heard it. He walked over to me and leaned on the balcony rails.
"I didn't expect to see you here. Kayden told me he invited you guys, but I didn't think this was your scene."
"It really isn't, but I think it would've been rude of me not to show up to his invite." He hummed at my response and just stood there watching as I drank my lemon water. After a few seconds of very comfortable silence, he spoke.
"Can I ask you a question? " I shook my head, yes ," Do you really not know who I am, or are you just playing it cool?"
I smiled slightly at how he looked when he was confused. His eye brows knit together, and he bites his lower lip and tilts his head to the side. Sexy as hell, I must say. I blushed slightly at my evil thoughts and answered him before he thought I was weird.
"No, up until this morning, I had no clue who you were. Don't get me wrong, I have heard of Eminem and his music, and I am a fan of some of his songs, but I never really put a face to the name. So this afternoon, when the girls were bashing for being clueless, that was when I knew."
He looked at me again with those studying eyes. In the dark, it looks almost grey. He was searching my face to see if I was being truthful. A look I know very well because I do it a lot. Amara would call them my judgmental eyes. I guess he found what he was looking for because he eventually gave me a beautiful yet very small, genuine smile that took my breath away. He has the most captivating smile. Before I knew it, the words left my mouth.
"You have a beautiful smile." Damn me and my impulsive mouth. I looked away from him, not wanting him to see how embarrassed I was. He held my chin softly and turned my head until I was looking at those gorgeous pairs of eyes. With a brighter smile, he replied with a thank you. His hand never left my face, however, and has now moved from my chin and rested on my cheek. He was looking me in the eye, thumb finger gently stroking my cheek, with an expression I couldn't read at all. I fought the urge to lean into his touch. My body was hot, my heart started to race, my skin tingled with every stroke of his thumb, and those damn shivers made it difficult to stand. I didn't know how long we were standing like this, but he eventually let go of me and excused himself, and went back inside. What the hell is wrong with me? I let out a breath I wasn't even aware I was holding. Damn Zee, pull yourself together. You hardly even know this man. What if he is in a relationship? What if you never see him again after today? After all, this is his going away party. "Ugh, get a grip of your horny ass self!" I mumbled to myself while taking a long drink of my lemon water.
Not long after, Marshall came back with two bar stools in his hand and a hoodie, which he draped over my shoulders. I wasn't even aware of how cold the breeze was until I felt the warmth of his smell enveloped me. I thanked him and saw that he was wearing a hoodie too.
"You're welcome, and by the way, you look absolutely fucking beautiful tonight."
Well damn cue the blush. I guess I just turned 30 shades of red each darker than the other. Again, I just mumbled a quick thank you, not trusting my voice at all.
We sat there in silence for a while until Marshall spoke again. He asked what I was studying at college and my job, and that is how we spent the rest of our night. Talking about any and everything.
