It was close to evening, Drake went to check his and Josh's mail.

He grabbed the stack of mail, looking through, everything seemed normal.

That was until, he saw a letter with a familiar name.

'From Dave Parker'

His biological father?

Drake began to panic, he hadn't seen Dave since he was nine, when his father was sent to prison for abusing Drake his whole life.

His mom, Audrey, called the police on him, which ended in him going to prison, thankfully. And Audrey obviously divorced him after all of this.

He hadn't ever heard from him again aside from hearing a few years back while he was in high school that he'd been released from prison, Drake, along with the rest of his family, as one could imagine, were very upset and worried when they heard the news, however, nothing else had happened, Dave never appeared in their lives again, even after his release.

So getting a letter from him was very shocking.

Drake quickly ran back to his and Josh's house with the rest of the mail, along with the letter of course.

He put the rest of the mail on the kitchen counter and sprinted into his bedroom, making sure to close his door when he got in.

With shaking hands, he opened the envelope with the letter inside.

It read:

Hello there, son.

I hope you're happy you ruined your mother and I's marriage and ruined my life, getting me thrown in jail.

I'll make sure you're miserable and pay for what you've done.

Your dad.

Drake was shaking and hyperventilating, his father wanted to hurt him again.

He didn't even know how his father found where his current address, but he wasn't thinking about that at the moment.

Drake was having a full blown anxiety attack at the moment.

He was hyperventilating uncontrollably and tears were beginning to flow from his eyes.

His body tensed as he stood there trembling, the note now dropped to the floor.

Josh, who was walking by, passed Drake's door and couldn't help but overhear what was going on behind his door.

It sounded to him like Drake was distressed.

He was really worried about his brother, so he knocked on his door.

"Drake?" He said softly. "Can I come in?"

Drake opened the door, wanting to not be alone in that moment.

However, it seemed to Josh that Drake was holding back his emotions.

And that was true, Drake was hesitant to be vulnerable around Josh, even though they were so close and brothers.

Josh, breaking the silence, asked. "Drake, are you okay?"

Drake wanted to deny it, act like he was okay, but he just couldn't, and after Josh said that, his voice shook as he said. "No..." And then he burst into sobs.

Josh's heart broke seeing his brother in such distress.

He immediately pulled Drake into a hug.

Josh rubbed his back soothingly. "Drake, it's okay, I'm here, what's wrong?"

Drake wanted to tell Josh but all that came out was sobs, so he just continued crying out.

Josh just continued to rub his back, hoping that it would help soothe Drake enough to open up.

Eventually, after what felt like hours, but in reality was probably about twenty minutes, Drake's sobs reduced to the occasional hiccup and only a few tears rolling down his cheeks.

Drake then began to speak. "M-my dad... h-he se-sent a letter t-to me."

Josh was in absolute shock. "He did what?! What did the letter say?"

Drake sniffed before continuing. "H-he said I r-ruined his m-marriage with mom a-and also his l-life cause he got arrested. A-and h-he's gonna m-m-make sure I'm miserable so I can p-pay for what I-I've done."

Drake began bursting into tears in Josh's arms again after confessing all of that.

Josh felt so angry at Dave for Drake, but kept his composure for Drake's sake.

He continued to console the shorter man.

"Shhh, it's okay. You're safe here, I won't let him hurt you." Josh soothingly spoke, whilst rubbing Drake's back once again.

More time passed, it was now late in the evening.

Drake, once again, was now mostly calm.

"Hey, Drake." Josh began. "It's getting kind or late, and you've had kind of a rough day, you want to get ready for bed?"

Drake thought for a moment, on one hand, all that crying and panicking had worn him out, and sleep did sound nice.

On the other though, Drake was still scared, and he was scared to fall asleep alone.

But he didn't want to admit that, so he just decided he was gonna try and be brave and sleep by himself.

"Yeah. I'm getting tired. I'm gonna go to bed." Drake spoke.

Josh smiled softly. "Alright, and just remember, I'm here for you."
