Hired To Deal With The Rats

(No One's POV)

Marie was in the pool room with a few of her guests, talking about a rot problem. Meanwhile, the staff were dealing with another rat problem. She could hear them working out in the hall. She would smile if she were alone, instead, she kept a neutral face as she watched the other's work. Meanwhile, in the hall, Baldroy was looking at the wire.

"Bloody hell." He says. "This wire is done for."

"Ah, not the rats again!" Mey-Rin says.

"This is getting ridiculous, I hear how they have been plaguing London, but I did not think they would be out here like this in the countryside," Baldroy exclaims.

Of course, the three were trying to catch the rat in the. Mansion and Finny thought he'd take the statue in the hall and squash it, making it a thousand times faster. Of course, he just nearly injured Baldriy and Met-Rin

"Looks like it got away, hehe." Finny laughs rubbing the back of his head. "Opps."

"What are you laughin' for? Are you tryin' to kill us too, you idgit?" Baldroy snaps at him and they continue.

Meanwhile, it was in the pool room and Marie found it amusing.

Marie had various guests over, Sir Randal is going to be paying her soon for catching a rat. A rat which is one of the guests in this room. Marie sits in the chair and looks around at them as she takes them in. She knew it was not her aunt or Lau, but one of the others. Randal would not be paying her for it, so that left two or three others.

"Quite the commotion going on out there," Randal says. "Seems you are experiencing a rat problem as well."

"Speaking of which." Another Guest who is eating a sandwich says. "How long will you let the vermin run wild? Filthy monsters. Someone ought to do something about them."

"And Someone Shall," Lau adds in from his seat with his little lady. "She is just waiting for the right moment."

"Indeed." Madam Red, Marie's aunt agrees. "She prefers to settle things with one blow, will you pass on this turn two, Lady Phantomhive."

"I'll pass. It's my policy not to shoot if I know that I'll miss." She said as she looked bored. She often did this in social situations.

"That's all very well, but when will you handle the problem?"

She looked up at that. "Any time you like. The rats will come soon, looking for their forbidden cheese, and I hold the key to the storehouse." She said as Vanel let out a 'tch' sound.

"Even so, locating the nest and eliminating the vermin promises to be a tedious task. You should concentrate on preparing me a suitable reward." Her lips played into a smirk.

Randall didn't seem to take kindly to this, and so he made sure she knew, comparing her to a vulture. Her, a scavenger? She thinks not.

"Sir. Randall, I'd be careful how you smear my family name." She warned. Camel commented. "Ha, you're in trouble now, Randall. What next, Lady Phantomhive?"

"It's time to put an end to this worthless game, don't you think? How soon can you secure the payment?" She asks Randall and he clenched his jaw before looking at the young lady.

"Tonight, I'll have it by then." He answers her.

"Then I'll send a carriage for you later. We can even prepare some light entertainment for you, does that sound good?" She asked, leaning in somewhat as she made her move.

"You passed your turn twice and now you're after them all in one go?"

"Naturally." She said.

Randall looked at her, his eyes hard. "Careful, or your greed will undo you." He warned but she smirked.

"Am I undone?" She asked before sitting up straight.

(Timeskip)

"Your tea. We have a special Darjeeling blend to offer from Fortnum & Mason today." Sebastian said as he entered the room.

Lau smiled, as usual. "Smells lovely. Tea can be excellent when made well." He commented as Madame Red smelled her tea before stopping.

"Grell." She said as her new servant perked up.

"Ah, yes, my lady?" They ask.

"Learn something from Sebastian." She said coldly.

Grell looked down. "Uh, yes..." they mutter.

Madame Red seemed to have distracted herself shortly after however as she laughed and put a hand on his backside, shocking even the demon and leaving everyone else aside from Lau uncomfortable.

"Just look at him. I mean, his physique! You should quit this country job and come work for me in the city."

Marie narrowed her eyes. "Ahem, Madame Red. People are here."

Madam Red blushes and she rubs the back of her head. "Oh, my apologies, he looked like he needed a physical." She says awkwardly. "Doctor's habit."

Lau puts down his tea cup and stands to his feet. "So do you believe that the drug trafficker was one of your guests today?" He asks as he walks over to Marie.

"Perhaps," Marie says but she knew it was one of them.

Lau gets behind her and rests his arms on the back of her chair.

Why not leave the extermination to Lau?" Madam Red asks. "A Rat knows best where a rat stays, doesn't he."

"I am but a tamed guinea pig. If the young lady instructs me not to act, then I shall not act~" He says and starts to play with her hair.

Madam Red, well she saw red at this and grabbed her niece... HER Marie away from Lau. "YOU Keep your filthy hands off MY Niece!" She snaps at him, she lost her niece once and she will not have anyone harm her again! Not as long as Madam Red is around.

Marie watched briefly from afar as her servants went around causing havoc as a small smile played on her lips before she sighed and walked to her study.

"Finally, peace and quiet-" Her peace was interrupted as someone grabbed her from behind, covering her mouth as she struggled before ultimately passing out.

Sebastian walked to the study, knocking on the door.

"Young mistress, I brought your pie and afternoon tea." he waited for her to answer, but he got nothing.

"mistress?" He asked as he opened the door only to find she was kissing and the study in a state that showed somewhat of a struggle.

Sebastian's eyes narrowed. If he was not one hell of a butler he would have slammed the dish down. Someone had kidnapped HIS Marie right from him! This will not stand! He has to take care of this deep-dish pie though... He did not want it wasted.
