Alexander smiled up at John Laurens.

"Wake up, Alex," Laurens whispered, "wake up."

"H-huh?"

"Wake up."

Alexander opened his eyes with a groan, looking around at the bottles of alcohol laying on the ground.

And for a minute, he wished he hadn't woken up, wanting to be with his boyfriend for an eternity.

---

"Alexander, are you alright?" Washington asked in concern.

"Yes, sir," Alexander rubbed his forehead in disgrunt.

"He's just pissed I'm right about the financial plan," Jefferson smirked.

"Keep dreaming," Alexander scoffed, quieting down when he realized the irony.

Alexander wished he could keep dreaming.

---

"What's that on your forehead?"

It had been two days after the dreaming incident.

Thomas Jefferson stood in front of him, staring curiously at the bandage on Alexander's forehead.

"None of your business," Alexander retorted.

"Is that blood?" Jefferson questioned.

"Why do you care?" Alexander snapped.

"I don't," Jefferson rolled his eyes, "I'm just curious."

"Curiousity killed the cat."

"Satisfaction brought it back."

The two men stared each other down.

Then, all of a sudden, Alexander let out a sob.

Jefferson recoiled in shock.

"You want to know?! Huh?!" Alexander yelled.

Jefferson managed to nod.

"The bullet nicked my forehead instead of going through it," Alexander choked out.

Jefferson stiffened in shock.

"W-what? You- you tried to- to...?" Jefferson trailed off.

Alexander nodded weakly.

"But you have so many people who care about you, your children, your wife, even Washington cares about you!" Jefferson exclaimed.

"Stop! Stop it! I know, I know, I know," Alexander sobbed, guilt pressing down on his chest.

"Should I hug you or something?" Jefferson asked awkwardly.

"Please," Alexander whispered.

Jefferson wrapped his arms around Alexander in an awkward embrace.

Alexander sniffled.

Maybe things could get better.
