Jungkook and Taehyung were seated on the floor in front of a Soban, their books and papers spread out before them.

[ Soban is a small tray-like table, usually wooden, used in Korea for carrying food and as individual dining tables. They are generally made of walnut, pine or ginko wood, often sourced from the carpenter's local area.]

Taehyung took each book with a look of confusion on his face, wondering what he had gotten himself into. But he didn't have long to dwell on it as Jungkook began asking him questions.

"Arabian.. Arabian. They have their characters too?" Jungkook asked, looking at the book Taehyung was holding.

His confusion only made Taehyung more uncertain about his math skills. "Do you know numbers?" he asked a hint of doubt in his voice.

Jungkook shook his head negatively. "This man seriously!.. Then forget this and do the problem first," Taehyung said, taking out a pen and opening the book.

But Jungkook protested, "Hey, teach me that formula first!"

Taehyung scoffed at his request. "Aigoo! what formula! You have to know the numbers first!" he said, before adding with a sigh, "Then, start with this, and I'll tell you after you take the test."

"A test?" Jungkook asked, raising an eyebrow. "I'm famous for not getting any math problems wrong when I was crown prince," he protested proudly. "Do you think I became a king automatically?"

"Then how about a finger flick if you get one wrong?" Taehyung proposed. He was sceptical of Jungkook's confidence.

Their eyes locked in a battle of wills as they stared each other down. The silence was palpable as they studied each other's expressions, both feeling a sense of curiosity and wonder at the unknown.

Jungkook broke the silence first, his voice low and commanding. "Talking about you...How can you stare at my eyes?" he asked, his voice tinged with a faint hint of surprise. "I'm the king!"

Taehyung realised then that the rules in Joseon-era society were vastly different from those he was used to. "Uh..Well, how can I teach you if I don't look at you?" he questioned, a hint of embarrassment tinging his voice.

Jungkook seemed to understand, and he let out a chuckle. "It's been a long time since I faced someone like this. Everyone else is always bowing!" He added with a tinge of impatience in his voice. "Btw, you said a test? I should loosen up my hands."

Taehyung smiled, trying to ease the tension in the air. "Alright, let's start."

Jungkook repeated the numbers in a clear and focused voice, his inkpen tracing each symbol on the papel in a swift, fluid motion. Taehyung checked each number carefully, using a red pen to mark any mistakes or miscalculations with circles.
