As soon as the phone starts ringing, she chuckles, seeing it's her friend Raine. Someone she's been so close to for so long. "Hey rainestorm, what's up?" She answered, longing to hear their voice all month. Soon her smile fades, as their crying desperate tone catches her off guard. "Woah.. Woah, slow down" she says, her own tone wavering from the enthusiasm she just had seconds ago. Also catching her sister's attention. "She did what?!.. A-are you sure?" Eda asked, as the situation set in and now their bawling made more sense. "Eda.. Is everything okay?" Lilith asked. Eda looked at her sister and then said. "Raine please, calm down. Just give me a second il be there soon" Eda assured them and hung up. Eda looked at Lilith and sighed. "Uh.. No, it's not, Raine is... Hysterical and I couldn't get much... But I'll be back later" Eda said to the blue-haired woman and headed for the door. "Alright... Drive safely, it's about to rain pretty hard" Lilith replied, before Eda rushed out the door.
Lilith sighed, trying not to focus on what she was working on before. She always worried about her little sister, why wouldn't she? But her reasons were more emotional. Eda always had a problem with making herself to available for Raine. For years Eda would be willing to drop everything for her friend, even if she was doing something important, even if they just wanted her company. However, Lilith can happily say Eda has learned to draw back since they got married and kept a healthy distance for her own sake. It's known to all who know her, except for Raine, that Eda has had feelings for them. And over time they simply got stronger and cemented in her heart. Lilith could easily recall all the times Eda cried over them not feeling the same way, then denying the fact she cried at all. Lilith sighed, as she saw her sister pull out of the parking lot, and off to see Raine, as the light rain started.
Eda got to Raines house that they shared with their wife Nora, however, she wasn't there. She didn't knock on the door, but instead used a Bobby pin from her hair to get in. She walked through the living room and heard soft crying from a guest room. A sound she knew all too well.
Back a few years ago when Raine had been married to Nora for a single year, Raine asked for her help with a gift idea. It wasn't uncommon for them to do this, because they valued her opinion and she usually agreed with them. However that same night, she'd gotten carried away and did a little too much. Eda got so caught up in their smiling and waves of gratitude and praise, that she totally set herself up for failure.
Eda's genius idea? She made Raine dress up, and phoned in a few reservations, and asked Nora's favorite colors for floral arrangements. Once she finished, she heard Raines footsteps behind her. She looked back, her gaze softening on them, however, they were struggling with the tie. "Uhm.. Eda, can you help me?" They asked nervously, with a lopsided smile. She smiled, at them, a light pink hue covering her cheeks, and spreading to her ears. "Y-yeah, of course, rainestorm" she answered, and took a position in front of them, to tie their tie. She was always able to do this because she would sometimes prefer to wear a suit instead of a dress depending on the event and who she was with. "Eda.. Are you sure this is a good idea?" They asked, their cheeks red, and hair slightly bagging over their eye. The ginger-haired woman looked at them and nodded. "When have I ever had a bad idea?" She asked teasingly and brushed their hair back with her hand. "I can think of a few times. " Raine replied playfully as Eda finished with their tie. She scoffed, rolling her eyes. "My ideas are always the best" she insisted and took a step back.
She took them in, and it was exactly how she envisioned it.
Eda stood there Admiring her best friend and childhood crush, Their striking appearance, characterized by short teal hair that slightly covers one eye, a crisp white button-up shirt paired with sleek black pants, and boots that add an extra inch to their height, Raine was one to normally command attention, but they sure had hers. As Eda observes Raine's nervous anticipation while preparing to surprise their wife of a single year, she finds herself captivated by their charm, especially when combined with the allure of their glasses.
Eda can't help but be drawn to their genuine love and dedication. Raine's nervousness reveals their vulnerability and highlights the depth of their emotions. It is this combination of excitement and apprehension that makes Raine all the more endearing to the ginger-haired woman. She admires Raine's commitment to creating meaningful surprises and cherishes the moments they share together"Raine.. You look amazing" she sighed, her gushing could only show a fraction of the vulnerability she could offer, however, her walls stayed strong as she kept all her life to herself.
She took Raine got the restaurant, where she told Nora to go to, after making the reservation under their name. Once Raine laid eyes on their wife, the whole world seemed to only be seen in rose-colored glasses. Nora was a beautiful woman herself. Dark brown hair, falling slightly below her shoulder, slightly curled, and the makeup she had on let Raine know she put real effort into her appearance. She was wearing a black dress, that didn't quite reach her knees but was close enough. "You look beautiful, honey.. " Raine gushed, before pulling their wife in for a kiss.
That was when the shock hit her. She should be over it by now. She literally watched them get married. She took slow steps back until she fully turned to leave and went back home.
Once she got through her front door, she leaned against her door, slowly sliding down, eventually sitting on the floor. Tears started slowly filling her eyes, and fell down her cheeks. Her silent crying was only known to herself, and herself alone, and that's the way she wanted it. She'd deal with her problems alone.
However, that rule didn't apply to her friends, especially not Raine. So when she heard them, her heart utterly broke. She walked in slowly and quietly, seeing them in the same position she'd been in a million times. She kneeled down next to them, resting her hand on their shoulder. Her sudden presence was a surprise at the same time such a relief to Raine, as they needed her right now. They laid their head on her chest, hugging her tightly, continuing to sob. "Oh, Raine.. Please don't cry" she pleaded quietly and held them close.
It pained her to see them this way, and even though she got the gist of what happened she needed them coherent so she could help. In the meantime she was on the floor with them, holding them.. As she wished they'd hold her one day..
