I wake up in silence and for the first time in ages; I slept good. No nightmares. No disappointing sense of happiness. Just peaceful rest.

I am lying with my head facing the wall and I turn with my eyes closed, pretending to still be sleeping. I peek through my lashes at the opposite side of the hallway and find him asleep.

Thank goodness he is still asleep, as I still need to come up with a resemblance to a plan. I have already checked off the first step; obtain the dagger.

I let out a breath and sit up. I stretch my arms behind my head and stand up to stretch my stiff bones.

I sit back down and take the dagger I had clutched while sleeping from the ground.

When I touch it, almost immediately, I feel a tingle in my fingers. This dagger is no ordinary enchanted dagger. It is something far more mysterious.

It's physically appears as a simple dagger. The color is something deeper than black. The hilt feels cool in my hand as I hold it.

Anything that comes its way seems to be sucked up by the dagger, which is blazing with power.

In my mind, I feel a soft presence of something ancient. I smile softly at myself.

I have had no genuine power in my hands since being trapped here. This dagger can do so much more than just protect its holder. Chief is a fool for not using the power trapped in the dagger with conscience.

Hello. I mentally say to the lingering presence.

It seems to purr back. You're different from my last associate. A pause. You're not human.

No, I'm not.

The presence seems to smile at this. How unusual to meet the forest in such a lifeless place.

I wish I would have met you somewhere else too. I would tell you the story, but I assume you already know.

It doesn't respond to this, but mentally sketches a bow in my mind. Tuebor, pleased to meet you.

Likewise. I smile.

The dagger—Tuebor has already sucked up most of the cursed magic that had locked away my strength and power. It also must have smoothed my wild nightmares into calm slumber. Even my body isn't that sore from the bruises Chief left behind on me.

With my current understanding, I am confident that the dagger will assist Aster and me in our escape.

All we need now is a plan.
