Distant (Angst x Fluff)

Over the past few weeks, Dianna had been busy filming 'Clock', the role enticed her completely. She had been in a trance-like state as it had first begun, putting y/n second. This was a mistake. Sure they'd only been dating for a year, but the thought of Dianna loving work more than her made y/n shake with nerves. After all, this had never happened before, they had started their relationship shortly before production for 'As They Made Us' had begun and although work was stressful, Di always made sure y/n felt like the first priority.

Yet that was the start of their relationship, that new relationship bliss had ended. So was this the end of their relationship too?

"Good morning my beautiful girl." Dianna announced cheerfully as she entered the kitchen.

"Morning."

"Are you okay? You seem off.", her concern was sincere, yet y/n couldn't let her know all of her anxieties. She'd been harbouring her past from Dianna since they met, she couldn't possibly let it all unfold now.

"Yep.", the eye roll coming off of y/n's face wasn't supposed to be blatant, yet it didn't go unseen.

"Are you sure?..." Dianna had asked carefully, yet despite those calming words it irked y/n to a point she couldn't ignore it.

"Yes I'm fucking okay Dianna.", She snapped , unintentionally causing her girlfriend to jump.

"Okay... If you're sure?... I'm gonna head off to work, are you gonna be okay?" Dianna asked, cautious as not to upset a clearly already agitated y/n further.

The stare Dianna received was deadly, lethal even. Her comment, thought it seemed innocent, made y/n feel like she was insane for even having feelings. It wasn't Di's fault, yet it felt like it was.

Over the course of a few weeks, Dianna had noticed a distance between herself and y/n. Insanely false ideas ran through her blood straight to her head like electricity. Y/n has been withdrawing from intimacy, quality time, even the simplicity of life like being cuddled up in bed watching movies or scrolling through social media together. It wasn't an easy topic to approach with y/n's communication skills being 'below average'; Yet Dianna felt a gnawing at her chest, her heart telling her that she needs to talk to her girlfriend about this before things get drastic. But she still needed to be sly about it.

As the evening dragged by with simple conversation failing, they led in bed. The physical distance between them was far from respectable given the circumstances, so much so that Dianna wanted to rid themselves of it. So that's what she did. Or, tried to do.

Her arm slowly snaked around y/n's waist, kissing her neck softly.

"Stop, Di."

However, Dianna continued.

"Dianna I'm fucking serious!" she snapped again, her hand slapping her girlfriend's off of her waist.

"Y/n what is going on?", her voice soft but firm, irritated y/n.

"What? Are you getting pissy with me because I don't wanna have sex? Or fucking cuddle?!?!" Y/n yelled.

"You're so fucking distant lately y/n! Is there someone else?", Dianna asked, laughing through tears brimming in her eyes. She felt pathetic.

"No there is not someone else! Maybe you're the one who's been getting distant. You were so thrilled to be working with that Justin guy, knowing you'll be kissing him and fake-fucking him while I'm sat at home trying to be fucking supportive!"

"THATS what this is about?", Di's laugh was hysterical, she couldn't fathom why this would affect y/n so much.

"How the fuck am I supposed to feel? Huh? You've been skipping date nights, you barely make time for me anymore and all you do lately is ramble on about 'Justin is so nice!', 'Oh my God, Justin was so sweet today.', 'Justin made me laugh during our sex scene today.'" Y/n mocked.

"I was excited, okay? This script speaks volume to me y/n/n, I'm 35 with no kids. I don't even know if I want them. I'm sorry, okay. I genuinely am.", she stroked y/n's arm softly, trying to reassure her.

Y/n gulped, not out of fear but nerves.

"Im just scared. Everyone I love has fucked off, got bored of me. And I get it, I can be a lot to deal with but I can't lose you Di.", her eyes though teary, show genuine love and yearning which earns a massive bear hug from Dianna.

"Hey hey hey." she soothed as she stroked y/n's head, cradling her in her arms. "You're not going to lose me, but you can't just double the distance whenever you feel like this, okay? I know I can get entranced in work, but whenever you feel that I'm not making enough time for you, you've gotta snap me out of it."

Y/n chuckled softly at that, the tears wedging at the back of her throat as she did so.

"I love you, so so much. That will never change.", Dianna continued.

"I love you too.", y/n responded quietly at her soothing words before leaning up to kiss her.

This was it. Everything was going to be okay.
